Root Htc one m8 unlocked stuck on boot screen

hi guys,

I seem to be having the same problem as zimmdo23...i was trying to install coin following a video tutorial with the aim of gaining s-off. However, the video failed to prompt me for a backup and it really didnt occur to me because everything worked perfectly on the video. Unfortunately after installing the insert coin the refused to boot and got stuck at the htc one logo screen.

I tried to install ROMs but anytime i do it tells me it appears your device is not rooted [do you want to install SU now], but i know for sure my phone is rooted. the worst part is choosing to install or not to install SU still goes back the htc logo screen and remains stuck again..

I am really frustrated. If anyone could help me on this problem.
dowsnload kingroot 4.5.0 open it and press try it, then they will send some info and all you have to do is wait.(keep checking kingroot by open it)

Download one of ROMs from there, and then you'll need working adb to sideload the ROM to your device.

I'm having the same problem as zimmdo, however I have at&t... does this download in this link still work with my carrier? Because I don't want to wipe everything from my phone, I have a lot of personal info that I don't have saved to my computer and my SIM card, and I just wanna make sure that it will work with my carrier

Hi there

I have the same issue. I rooted the phone as advised and now I cannot get passed the HTC logo screen. I brought it to the local phone repairer who had no idea how to fix it. Reckoned I might need a new motherboard. Does anyone know how to fix the phone? Thank you. I am in Australia btw.

fellinho, what I did was factory reset my phone... It works fine, except the Wi-Fi... the software is one of the older versions but it works just fine. If your Wi-Fi works, the first thing you should do after the factory reset is to connect to a network then check for updates under the software updates so your phone has the latest software and before you put anything else on your phone that would restrict you from the update.

Hope this helps

Thanks Marisa060. I tried that but no joy. It goes straight to the screen below

I'm thinking what you could also do is insert a Micro SD card into the slot because that also worked for me, too. I turned off the phone, inserted the card, and turned it on after the factory reset. If not, try holding down the power and volume down till it gets to that screen you just sent, select HBOOT, and then scroll down to reboot and try rebooting it

Thanks for you help on this. I tried what you said but no joy. Same result as before. Phone still wont get passed the HTC screen. Any other advice?

That's all the advice I have... Unless you have an insurance plan from your service provider that can recover the contents of your phone, that's all I can think of. I know AT&T has a plan like that, but I'm not positive on the others

I wish you luck and I hope you can get it recovered!

Okay, that's what I wanted to know. Thanks. I'll take a look at the Sprint development. Are you just looking for a custom rom?

Or were you looking for the stock firmware?

Really, the best place to find custom ROMs would be

Here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-htc-one-m8/development

And here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-htc-one-m8/orig-development

I'd look through the available ROMs, see what you're interested in and then just feel free to reply here in your thread if you have any questions about compatibility or about the instructions for flashing the rom or any questions at all.

Also some additional information here. No guarantees that any of it isn't outdated but probably some useful information:

It's a different process (so to speak) but usually a custom rom comes rooted. So if you install a custom rom, you will also be rooted.

I'd you're like me, I prefer to remain on the stock room these days so I usually just flash the root binaries.

But yes, probably any of those rooms will be rooted. Did you find one that looks good to you?

What are you looking for in a custom rom?

I just want to be able to put my verizon sim card in this sprint phone tbh. if that's even possible. If not, I need to restore it to stock working order so I can sell it or use it with sprint.

S-off (security off) and Supercid. So once you have S-off you would do

adb reboot bootloader.

fastboot oem readcid.

Write the cid down or just Google search it if need be. Then,
fastboot oem writecid 11111111

It does cost $25 for S-off or just go to www.idoneapps.com and have the device unlocked.

Or do S-off then the unlocked developer conversion. Idk just throwing out ideas.

Rooting in general doesn't sim unlock your device. If you are off contract though, most carriers will give you the unlock code

I think they have to so long as the phone isn't on contract and there's no outstanding bills. Maybe keep trying until you get someone that will do it?

It may be the case that there's outstanding bills... :/ I may try somewhere else, But for now I just need to get it working again... I was wondering if I may need to Update the RUU? Or might need to relock the bootloader or something... But its hard to know when I'm not sure if I'v tried compatible roms or even done it right...

So what rom are you wanting to use? And do you have a custom recovery like TWRP installed?

So you have already unlocked your bootloader. I'm just trying to figure out what state your device is in.

So it won't boot? Is that the issue?
