Root HTC Sense keeps force closing now I cant use my phone

oabernl

Newbie
my EVO is an unrooted & flashed one that I bought new from someone 5 months ago n I haven't had any issue with it except for today. I'm not that familiar with this rooting/flash rom business but I've read up about it on several blogs. I think the type of rom my phone has is "Freshh updater" one (the icon is a green penguin) n I realized they offered an updated rom so I downloaded n reboot it. But when I try to open my, all my app n widgets disappeared then a message saying "HTC sense launcher....closed unexpectedly). Anyone please help me resolve this problem???

Try doing a battery pull and then reboot. If the problem still persist then you may want to try and redo the update. May want to consider rooting

wait are you rooted? do you have s-off or s-on? power off then press and hold power+vol down. this will take you to hboot(bootloader). at the top it will say either s-on or s-off. also while you are on that screen, what is you hboot version?

@nate my phone is flashed to the boost mobile network. Wil I lose my network if I root it???

@ocn I tried that, I see hboot loader but I don't see a S on/ S off option

well if you have s-off, then you should have a recovery. so go into recovery and wipe dalvik cache and cache and see if that helps.

ok so i would try and do a fresh flash of the rom.

1.go here:[ROM] 11/05/11 | Fresh Evo 4.3.1 | OTA 4.54.651.1 | Check inside for more details - xda-developers and dowload the file.
2.move it to your sd card
3.go into recovery and make a nandroid backup
4.wipe dalvik cache, cache, data do that 3 times
5.select install zip from sd card
6.navigate until you see the rom file and select it.
7.reboot when done
8.sign in and make sure that everything is working then go back into recovery and make another nandorid backup.

now i'm not sure about you being on boost and what all this will do to your phone. but this will at least get you back and running.

yeah data can be tricky like that. Really best not to transfer data. If you must have data transfered then you will need to do so one at a time until you find the issue. once you find which data file/s are causing problems you can skip those
