Huawei Ascend Forum Etiquette - Please read!

Please try to help us have a nice and fun forum by observing a few simple common courtesy rules that are not all specifically addressed in the Android Forum terms of service:

1. Play nice! We want our forum to be inviting and appealing. When observers see us fighting they see us as unprofessional and may not take our informative posts seriously. It gives a terrible first impression.

2. Remember we all have different personalities. You will like some posters here better than others. It's just the way it is. If someone is annoying to you, put them on ignore. That's better than arguing with them which can get you reported and even banned by an Android Forum moderator.

3. We do not have any bosses in this forum. All are created equally here. The only bosses are the Android Forum Moderators and Admins. If someone appears to be bossy take it with a grain of salt and just remember that everyone has a different kind of ego. Some posters here spend an enormous amount of time sharing their knowledge and helping others. That doesn't make them bosses, but sometimes it may come off that way. Try not to come off bossy when you post.

4. Show your gratitude. If someone helps you, thank them by clicking on their 'thanks' button. Everyone appreciates recognition.

5. Try to remember that the Ascend has two carriers, MetroPCS and Cricket. When you ask a question, unless you have it noted on your profile, please tell us who your carrier is. This can help you get an answer faster.

6. Pause! If you think your post is going to offend someone....pause before you hit 'submit'. Chances are it will.

7. If you see someone else helping someone, let them finish before you jump in with your two cents. This can be confusing to the one needing help and is highly annoying and disrespectful of the one attempting to help.

8. Please look at the forum threads before starting a duplicate topic. We have enough now that are duplicates and we don't need any more.

9. If you see anyone using profanity or being hateful do not respond to them. Use the report button and wait for a moderator to help.

Thanks for taking time to read this. If you have anything you want to add that you think will be helpful please post it and we'll take a look at it.

~ Just another poster like you! :)

I've been reading this forum all week, since my wife and I both got Ascend phones through MetroPCS, and what you said here is perfect. I have noticed a little of what seems to be one-upsmanship going on here and there, and it definitely looks bad to an outsider.

Thanks for your insightful and eloquent post.

Well said. I was really happy with these forums, as they were helpful. Untill other folks started going at it with each other at the end of that thread.

Hope this keeps everyone playing nice~

Yes, we need to learn that a post could be taken in the wrong way.

hmmm how do i put a person on ignore that responds to every thread with useless answers just to up their post counts? Thanks in advance!

To put someone on ignore:

Click on their name.

Go to their profile.

Under their name you will see 'user lists'.

Click that and select 'add to ignore list'.

I just want to say to everyone that I hate typing especially on my phone. Thats why most of my posts are short and to the point.

After being on this forum for awhile a came to the conclusion that when you read a post try to read it with a positive tone. A lot of posts from a lot of different people can be easily misinterpreted. Its totally understandable and its not any one person's fault especially when you can't hear the person's tone. Just assume that they are saying it in a positive way and are not intending to hurt another person.:)

That's what I have been trying to tell everyone. Well, not everyone. Very well said though. I was looking for those words and you were spot on.

Everyone please try to stay on topic in a thread as much as possible and before creating new topics, look and see what is already there. When you type in your subject you get a Pop-up that tells you what other topics are there like yours. Please try to keep the forum uncluttered by not creating unnecessary new duplicate topics.

It's just good forum manners. :)

As a followup to Jazziette's post, it is also good etiquette to create a new thread for your issue if:

1. You do not find a thread already created for your issue
2. Your post in an existing thread would not be in line with the topic being discussed

In other words, don't piggyback a thread with an off-topic question. By doing this, you not only may not get an answer to your question, but you may also hinder others from finding the same answer. We have so many threads with multiple posts discussing separate issues that many things are missed, to the detriment of every reader out there.

Granted, I think we all get off-topic a fair bit in this forum, but if we all put in a little more effort, we will all find what we need more easily, and know when a new thread is needed.
