It was meant to be sarcastic. Good job.

You read my post right? Because I said I expected it to get it about a month ago (ie: When I bought the phone all the rumors pointed towards late July or early August.) I then said Verizon released the "Date" for the OTA, which got me excited that it was finally coming out and no more listening to rumors in forums about when froyo will be officially released. Much to my dismay and disappointment.. I didn't get it the day Verizon announced, and now everyone is speculating a million different reasons for why.. "They're doing it be region.." "They're releasing it to a select few to test bugs.." etc.

Thank you.

You read my post right?

You say it right there, you expected something based on rumors pointing towards late July or early August. Expectations based on rumors are a good way to be disappointed.

As for being disappointed because you, your majesty, didn't get the update the day Verizon announced it? You do understand how rollouts happen right? No? They start with a small number first to see if there are any bugs or major issues. Being a Friday into a weekend one would expect that number to be really, really small so to not have to pay IT people overtime or stretch their support staffs too thin. Now that its Monday (the regular business week) we should be hearing from more people getting the update. Keep in mind that the updates are random. Meaning no one knows when the update will reach their device.

This process may take a week because there are hundreds of thousands of people who have this device. As described above it will take time for the update to get to everyone.

Your welcome.

People here have every right to be pissed off.

Froyo came out before the summer even started. The Dinc is getting it just now in September (way overdue).

And when Verizon finally announces that it's coming out, they don't deliver. It was announced on Friday, and now it's Monday afternoon and nobody has it. Verizon is a HUGE company that's being VERY lazy when it comes to rolling out a small software patch. They need to get their PR act together. Or actually release the update (none of this "random roll out" bullshit).

Now is still August... we still have about 36 hours left in August.

5 months is way overdue..... OK. Tell that to folks who have real issues and have to wait more than that for things to be resolved (i.e. Troops being sent to warzones, Medical issues, family issues)

Just because no one here has it, doesn't mean no one has it. These boards make up a very small amount of Incredible users. Just be patient, your name will be called.....

OR

Install RUU...simple as that.

you know...im trying to figure out why everyone is soo pissed they didn't get the update within 3 days of it being released. As in previous rollouts, I wouldn't be surprised if the first few days were low numbers just to make sure s**t doesn't hit the fan, then bump up numbers from there.
You also have to realize, that they dont send out a lot of the update notifications during the day(or at least they haven't in the past) to cut down on network traffic during peak hours.
I mean ya'll are saying "its not happening" or "its taking too long", need to chill out. The number of ppl posting on here doesn't represent the real number of Incredible owners. I know 2 other people OTHER than myself who got the OTA, and they dont post on here.
So please, just chill, and you will get it. you may not have gotten it within the first few days, but you will. VZW and HTC are doing their jobs.

**EDIT** and BTW, HTC said by XMAS, and its only about to be the beginning of Sept, so I think they did a fine job of getting it out quickly

Stop it. You know this has nothing to do with the discussion at hand.

Exactly. People are sooo shocked that Incredible users are pissed..

Oh my god thank you so much for explaining how roll outs work!! You are THE MAN! I can't click the "Thanks" button enough!

My husband went in on Sat and got his crappy Ally replaced with an Incredible. Just an FYI real quick, the Verizon store in Huber Heights, OH got in a shipment of 125 Incredibles on Sat they said. Anyhow, the guy who helped us had the nerve to tell my hubby, right in front of me mind you, that because his was a newly activated phone he might get froyo before me. WHAT???? I asked him why and he said that he had sold a few earlier that day and within a few minutes of activating their phones they were prompted to update. I called BS and we left to get dinner. While sitting there hubby was messing with his phone and asked me what a particular icon was.... Sure enough it was the update notification for 2.2. Now he has it on a (now) 2 day old phone, and mine that is 3 months old is still waiting. Anyone have input one way or the other? Me thinks I need to go duct tape and hog tie the csr who sold hubby his Incredible. Grrrrrr

Snooty always works better with proper spelling. It's "you're" not "your" in this context.

You may now proceed to attack me.

Come one now, at least put froyo in your post somewhere so you're (you are not your) at least on topic. lol :D

Snooty? how about accurate, except for spelling a phrase that people who don't have monarchs, don't normally use.

Could someone please link where Verizon said the entire update was being sent on the 27th?

In fact, I dont think they put a date on anything except twitter where they said it STARTED Aug 27th!

Could someone name 2 phones in the US that have been UPGRADED from 2.1 to 2.2 without having major problems and needed to stop and rollout again?

BTW, if you say "I am officially going back to AT&T" don;t expect people to think you are not being serious.

Bottom line is that after seeing the Evo and Droid problems with updates, how can anyone be mad for the delay?

BTW, I am not rooted, I dont have the update, and I have call quality issues and have been waiting 6+ weeks for this update.

Ok um do most of you know how rollouts work? I'm from the media side of the world so it maybe be a bit different for wireless. But you target a small group like a city or state or part of the country first with a product and release it to that area only then see what the market does and if there are any problems. Problems you fix then roll it out to another area little by little little until you have enough market response to warrant a larger area or the rollout. This one ensures very small amount of media coverage of a possible epic fail two a very small amount of problems to fix ie sweep under the rug, and three show market interest. doesn't work then you just pull it it does work then you widen the area releasing other part of the rollout until you have the number to goto corp and authorize a larger scale release. This also ensures lower bandwidth usage on their towers so people are not complaining of dropped calls and bad reception or busy tower noise you get. As for brand new phones getting as soon as activated yeah that makes sense easy for the system to track not fair but easy.

Still nothing in Las Vegas, NV.
Rooted (Stock 2.1 rom/kernel/radio)

If I don't receive the OTA by the end of the week I am officially going back to my iPhone just on principle alone. HTC is letting me down hardcore and making me semi-regret the android switch. :(

I never had an Iphone, but was thinking the same thing. After years of owning ipod touches, and from what I understand the iphones are the same way, ol Steve Jobs says theres an update, this is when it will be released, and on that date you plug in to itunes and ya have it. This guessing game is nuts! Granted I am a very impatient person, but damn.

Just got off the phone with a Verizon CS rep.

They are rolling out the update to between 5K to 10K phones per US time zone for the next few days. Depending on the level of traffic and the number of users experiencing issues this will be sped up. The CS confirmed that over a million devices had been sold by the end of Q2.

Actually, for your information, the correct term IS "your majesty". You are not saying "you are majesty".

Not attacking, just thought it was funny.

I was referring to the "your welcome" at the end of the post. It should have been "you're welcome." You are correct about your comment, though.

i remember the days when i enjoyed going through these threads....now its just a bunch of bullshit with a lot of people bitching
