Seriously...if every person who read this forum has voted Yes or No, that equates to less than 1/5 of 1% of the total number of DINCs out there. To assume that because only a few out of 781 people have received it means it isn't happening is a bit narcissistic. There ARE other users out there besides us forum dorks.

RUU is the best option by far...a clean build of the new OS. its what Verizon should offer as the standard withOTA as a back up plan

no, 781 is a big enough sample that its extremely likely to be close to representative of the entire DINC owner population.

said simply, if < 1% of DINC owners on this forum (call it 1,000 people) have received the update, then it's likely that < 1% of ALL DINC owners have received it

since Verizon has no idea who is a poster here, we are a random sample

Actually, pretty accurate statement ! :)

If only 1/10th of the D-Inc users come to the forums, that would be a surprise. Some people go and get the best out there, but don't talk about it online like us :) But then again, they are also possibly only using their phone at 20% capacity, while we are using our phones to the max.

Since it looks like ur a doubter, I just wanted to re-confirm that Saturday morning my friend got an update on his Incredible. He was out in an area which we always get very bad service at, near a Lake. He woke up to an update and he loves it! Says his phone is a lot faster. Just feels better overall and faster web. I assumed that since hes been with Verizon for 10+ years he gets it first and since ive only been with them for 5 years ill get it later, that was why I assumed he would get it ahead of me. Because i got my Inc 2 months before him. Still waiting for my update.

You misread my stats. If you go by voting results, then 7% of the people who voted say they have received it. When I posted that, there were a total of 781 votes - 57 that said they've received, and 724 that had not. The total number of votes (781) represents that <1% of all DINC owners. So, by your math, approximately 7% of DINC owners have received.

The math is a bit more complicated by root and ruu people.

Take the % of Incredible owners who would take the time to post here that they got the update. Now remove the % of them who have already got 2.2 through root/leak or RUU.

Now, how many people are left?

Since we probably have only seen 5% or less of the DI's pushed...... it doesn't shock me that we haven't heard of that many updated.

Very true, political polls are very similar in numbers 700-1000 people representing hundreds of thousands sometimes, all with a 3% margin of error. It it extremely unlikely that the percentage of people here who have froyo varies more than 3% up or down of what the actual roll-out percentage is. It seems like Verizon put out the update to a lucky few guinea pigs, and yesterday and today have let the dust settle to see if any problems crop up. I am hopeful that when it does start back up again, it will be hard and fast. (yes I know, thats what she said)

Of course Froyo rolls out the day my screen cracks and needs to get replaced. I wonder if they push my update out today, and I get a replacement tomorrow, will Verizon assume that I've received the update and not accommodate the new phone since my records will show update has been pushed down to me.

if your replacement is a new phone, then it will come with 2.2 preinstalled. If not, updates dont work like that. It checks periodically for new updates to the current software on the phone. If a new version is available, you get to download it (assuming your account has been flagged with the ability to do so). There's no 1 download per phone limit, else those who do factory resets and what not would be crazy screwed ;)

Excellent point. Further, if Verizon spent the first 3 days pushing out in batches of 10,000, then that equates to roughly 30,000 - 40,000 updates sent out so far, which also makes 7% seem not all that unlikely.

That's enough logic for me to just chill out and hope they begin ramping it up today to finish by the end of the week. :D

I've been with verizon for 10+ years and have 4 lines two of which are Incredibles. I haven't seen the update yet. I think its totally random order.

The updates get sent out random order. I've been with Verizon for a decade as well and I'm still waiting. I bet tmw and Wed. updates are gunna start hitting the majority.

No i'm not doubing anyone, I just wanted some people to post some pics to make the rest of us calm down a bit. That's all.
And I'm not sure if the rollout is by seniority. I've been with verizon over 15+ years. (since I was 15 yrs. old). I'm thinking it has to do with Region, Date ordered, Phone model in their database, ESN Number, or something else that could be completely random.

I can't remember if it was here or xda, but there has been multiple pictures of people posting pictures of them getting the OTA notification. gives the size of the MB and the description clearly saying 2.2. couldn't have been faked.

Nothing here yet. Planning on going RUU today though. I would think that the less than 1% of Incredible users that frequent these boards would go that rout anyways and not wait on the OTA.

I have seen screen caps of the updates on peoples phones so it is going out but they are probably sending out small batches so they can deal with any problems on a small scale then as those problems are addressed they will send out more updates. Its smart that way other wise you put the cart before the horse and have a big mess on your hands if something goes horribly wrong. There doing something because cell service and response to the towers is slow today here in Oregon.

And I'm sure there are many like myself, who doesn't want to vote NO, but rather wait till they get their upgrade so that they can vote Yes.

OT, but where in Oregon are you? Curious because I have tons of family all over the state.

For what it's worth, I was on the phone this afternoon checking with Verizon on an upgrade for the wifes phone and, asked the rep if they were rolling out the 2.2 update yet. she put me on hold and came back and said yes. She asked me how I liked the phone, I told outside of the garbled calls issue,it was a nice phone. So I will wait.
btw Heather Westie is our dog.........

JuniorNA,
I can tell you without a doubt and with no reason to lie about it that I received the OTA on Sat. am sometime between 11pm and 5am when I woke for work. It initially seemed a little quirky without much improvements and frankly I was disappointed! After some reading I decided to do a factory reset and WHOA! Much improved!!! No lag, no hesitation between screen flips, faster internet and improved battery life, especially from the stock battery! I've been on the stock battery since saturday and although I havent really done any benchmarks, I did make it through a 12 hr shift yesterday and when I got home still had about 60% left with mild usage where before I was only getting about 6 hrs.

people also have the choice of reading the thread or not. did they make you click on the link and read it? if you have a life then how do you have time to read whats in this thread? aren't you busy?

just saying, to each their own. who are you to judge what people choose to do?
you must have misunderstood....what i'm trying to say is that some people in this thread are expecting everyone thats a member to post that they've gotten the update, and i'm saying that there are more important things for people to do than tell everyone they got an update. i read the thread cause i'm at home sick, and have nothing else to do. i'm not judging what anyone chooses to do. just saying that a phone isn't that important, if it's evem important at all.
