Root I have the stock 4.1.2 Sprint rom for the ZTE Force 4G

Despite the fact that I haven't posted anything up until now, I've been keeping up with your updates on JB. I really appreciate that you and many others have tried very hard to make this phone stable (ZTE's job really).

I know exactly how you feel about the urge to get rid of this phone. I really hate the idea of buying a new phone less than two years later but this thing is garbage software wise. It has gotten progressively worse for me with constant lock ups and slow downs even with both cores running 24/7.

Looking at Freedompop again I see that its plans are a lot better than what they were a while back. I might actually switch, thanks for the indirect tip :D. Anyway, I think that you shouldn't waste any more time on this device unless you're positive that you're close to a major breakthrough. Good luck.

I have had my wife and son on freedompop's totally free plan for awhile now and it's perfect. 200 minutes, 500 texts, and 500mb of data all for free, and even the unlimited plan is only $19.99..

My wife gets 20mb/s download speeds with her iphone 5 on freedompop while I only get about 6mb/s in the same location with boost zte force 4g.

The reason I want the sprint galaxy s4 and not the s3 for freedompop is because the sprint s3 is the same SOC as the zte force 4g, while the s3 for other carriers is a quad core version, LOL!

I figure if I can get a sprint galaxy s4 it will pay for itself in a short period of time when you compare the cost of boost vs freedompop.

For now I am back to DSF .7, by far the best ROM available for this phone. It is lightweight and everything works as it should. Def. recommended. Matrix kernel is great, too. I wish I could get JimSmith80 to put out a newer release with the 1.8ghz OC module integrated that other phones using this SOC have had for a couple years already.

I am still planning to try and contact sprint support via email about the 4.1.2 rom. Probably won't spend too much more time trying to make 4.1.2 work with the 3.0.8 kernel, but others feel free to try and I wish whoever may try the best of luck. I have spent too many hours on this already.

Cheers,

bad news is...when I recovered from CWM the 1970...25.12 sprint stock ROM 4.1.2

I have windows recognizing the N9100 but the SDCard and phone <DIR> are empty and the boot-looping drops the connection with windows explorer every couple moments.... ADB wont work and I'm not sure what fastboot.exe is does or where to find it??

Any suggestions??

Are you trying to use the backup dump that Shinru posted? If you have read a bit here you would have known that all it does is boot loop.

Try pulling your battery.
Hold down the volume down button as well as the power button while you insert the battery and continue holding until after the android logo goes away and your recovery opens.

Now either restore a previous backup (not the jb dump) or use your recovery to install a zip ROM like the partially working ROM I posted or best of all the droidsmith force ROM found in this forum. Most stable lightweight option for the force at the moment.

Good luck and let us know if this helps fix or not.

I'm going into the Sprint store near my house to try and speak with one of their technicians and try some old fashioned social engineering. If that doesn't work then I will just get down on my knees and beg! LOL

Seriously though, there is a possibility that TextNow is selling some Force 4g's with 4.1.2 and I'm trying to work that angle as much as possible, too!

I haven't given up hope yet. Eventually we WILL get this to work!

If everyone who reads this thread goes to their local sprint store with a flash drive and begs and pleads with the techs I'm sure our chances will improve! So if you want JB try being proactive and go be the squeaky wheel at the Sprint store.

If I don't succeed on my first try I plan to persist and try repeatedly, hopefully a different tech per visit, if not, maybe when they keep seeing me come back they will wear down and give in.

The only thing proprietary that they have in this rom is Sprint's bloatware and the first thing most of us would do is remove that ;)

Cheers all! Be proactive!

I have the sprint version of the ZTE Force and its stuck in custom recovery I cant flash anything it just goes right back to recovery.

I got it working!!!!!!!

What I did was replace the zimage in the boot.img with the one that I extracted from the DSF .7 ROM. Then I copied the files from DSF's META_INF into the one for this rom.

Next I replaced the updater-script and binary with the ones from DSF and made some minor changes there.

When I had tried only replacing the zimage with the one from DSF, I think this got me a boost like boot logo. Then I tried replacing it with the whole boot.img from DSF and that got me a blank screen like from Shinru's nandroid.

Also, I kept getting errors when mixing SuperR's updater with the DSF stuff.

I also did copy a lot of stuff that was in the DSF .7 rom but only missing items. I did not overwrite anything. This seemed to make some of the difference between boot and not.

So what I finally did that made it work was to take the DSF boot img. unpack it with rom kitchen, replace the contents of the ramdisk from DSF with the contents of the one from Shinru/SuperR, then recompile the boot.img, zipalign, sign, create zip.

Then I flashed with cwm 6.0.4.4, rebooted and after the android logo, I got an animated android logo! I thought holy crap I think it's booting! And then IT SURE AS HELL DID BOOT!

Awesome! I did update my profile with boost and got phone/data. So far the only thing not working is the wifi, and I'm wondering if maybe that's something simple like I need to create a symlink from lib/modules to the driver in lib/modules/prima.

So best practice for flash is wipe data/factory reset, clear dalvik, install zip, choose zip from card, wait, and then you should be ready to reboot provided to errors.

Until I can find a better hosting solution I am using my dropbox.

Here is the link

I would consider this beta until we figure what all bugs are in it.

Enjoy guys! I will probably be using this as the base for the rom I was planning to use DSF base on but not sure yet. Depends on this build, and it's stability.

Might be a bit of delay before DL is possible. My dropbox is syncing.

HUGE SHOUT OUT FOR SHINRU2004, JimSmith80, and SUPERR, without whom this would not be possible!

Cheers and goodnight!

My force is stuck in custom recovery even after formatting then flashing it restarts then back to recovery does that mean my phone is done for?

sorry for the late reply, but I think your phone will be okay. Im sure you probably have a new one by now or something but if you want to fix it, you may have to re-install the OS (ROM). There are a few available for the ZTE force in the forums here and the ones I have used (DSF and Sawbones mod) both work quite well. I believe they both have a flashable zip in their thread so you should be all set there, but if you need help post back. Good luck :)
