That's what I did too. I was told I would be notified via the notification bar that it was available... but I vasn't (German accent on that last part there for the fun of it).

So I just did a little test inside my house, booted up the GPS and searched for something. It found my rough location within 10 seconds, locked onto GPS in maybe 20-30 seconds. I'm satisfied with that. Sure as hell beats 5+ minutes!

After the update the my GPS gets a lock almost instantly now. Very nice! This will be just enough to keep us quiet while they take another 6 months to release Froyo.

Yeah guys Im glad to hear many of you have improved GPS now. The rooters saw the same thing with DJ05.

Also Batt1719 a not completely functional froyo alpha already exists give it a few more says to mature, no 6 month wait for froyo, probably wont even be 6 days tills its gtg at the rate PK is leaping over hurdles

I just got the update as well, in Texas. GPS locked in less than 15 seconds inside my house. This is exciting for me as I'll be moving to a new city in two weeks and will be using maps/navigation a ton more.

Got the update in Central Oregon about an hour ago. All went smooth. 3G signal stays at full bars and doesn't move now (used to flux between 2-3 and cell tower is 300 ft out my back door). GPS is locked spot on within 10 sec, was 2-3 min at best. Accurate to within 8 feet per GPS test. Soft keys stay lit as long as screen is active, very nice. A few of the annoyances fixed and will keep me happy until 2.2 drops.

We've seen reports in other forums that following this latest update the GPS improves with more and more use, a few reboots, etc.

Let's see how that pans out over time.

It might also be interesting to note any similarities in GPS behavior from region to region.
