I just got the update!

Am I using the right update button in the about phone screen under settings right?

Yeah:

1: Settings
2: About Phone
3: System Updates
4: (InnoPath ActiveCare should pop up with three options: Status, Check New, About).
5: Click "Check New"

And thats it. It will check for the latest updates to for OTA firmware upgrades, and in the future, OS upgrades (ie., Froyo 2.2).

Just got my DL09 update. Extremely happy with it.

- GPS lock is nearly instant now :D . Within 10 seconds or so. Location seems accurate still (always was for me).

- Capacitive buttons stay on to match screen-on duration - perfect.

These were my 2 biggest issues with my phone, now solved (early results indicate anyway).

It will make th Froyo wait MUCH easier for me now I am happy to say.
Same here in LI NY. Great phone!

2 phones updated here. Both working great. GPS takes secs vs min to lock on and even locks on indoors withing 10 sec. Now just need full flash support and I am good.

OK, I *think* youtube widget is OK now (many reboots, clearing of cache, etc) and my GPS seems to lock within SECONDS outside (need further testing to confirm).

GPS and bottom buttons were my biggest gripes... I can wait for 2.2 now.

Not here yet. But I live in a state about the same size as the state of New York, but with less than 1/10 New York's population (about 18 million there and about 1.8 million here).

I've always wondered if the updates roll out beginning with the carrier's largest population base and down from there, as opposed to truly random. I was one of the last to get the Eris 2.1 upgrade from 1.5.

Weird. Right after I had installed the update, I was getting a GPS lock within seconds indoors. Now a few hours later when I checked again (exact same location), it is taking forever to lock again. Thoughts?

Yeah my GPS locks on instantly within 5 seconds or less and is accurate to 5m or less... indoors. FTW.

I have Standalone GPS ONLY enabled just like before the update and it works flawlessly.

And the touch keys at the bottom are always on as long as the screen is on.

Same with me. Tried it right after the update and it found my location indoors within 20 seconds or so. Now it's going on 5+ minutes indoor, same spot, no location.

However, outside it locks on without even searching. Just grabs right on it.. awesome :)

My only gripe (gotta have something to complain about, right?) is the quick bandaid fix for the bottom buttons. I don't need the buttons fully lit when I'm not using them.. it should just be a very faint glow. Just need to be able to find them, not have them on full brightness the entire time.

Well I checked for the update, downloaded it, and after reboot it failed out saying:

Update failed or Incomplete, reason
IP_PREVIOUS_UPDATE_FAILED

Status says mostly the same thing, except it adds
Error: 410

So I looked up the threads here, someone said try rebooting. I rebooted, turned off, pulled the battery, and did it again (sure hope this isn't eating up my data at 16.7MB a pop) and it fails again.

I've got some error msgs with the media scanner launcher and other misc apps after the failed update.

Stock DI01... nothing super fancy.

Help?

I would call Verizon tech support. You may have to reset phone to orig config.

1. now when i plug my phone via USB..it asks about media sync...whats that? never seen it before..

2. my gps does not work still..even after the update..any thoughts? i've done several reboots :(

How do i get the update past clockwork?

if you have clockwork mod installed you shouldnt be installing the update.

its possible i suppose that it *might* (very small chance) work because its not a full recovery unless you have voodoo recovery...but i doubt it

really theres so many other ways to get dl09 that the ota is about your worst option

Just installed the update OTA.

First thing I did was check the GPS in Maps. Still dont have a lock.
Waiting 2 - 3 min and still no lock.
I bought this phone on launch day and I havent gotten a lock ONCE!! really pathetic IMO

In any event, I tried running Z4 mod one click root a few times and it wont execute...itll run the exploit for a few minutes then close. If I try to re-launch it will FC.

Any ideas on how to get the z4 root working...I may call VZ and ask for a new phone if the gps doesn't start working.

Thanks,

I agree about the bottom buttons. I wish they would also go off when viewing a video. Not a major issue but hopefully the next MR will have options to control them.

First thing I checked was GPS location - FINALLY I am located where I am supposed to be and NOT in the the middle of the pond about a mile and a half away!

Could do without that new GPS symbol up top but if it makes it work small price to pay. But I also heard that was a new requirement for phones (not sure how new) that the 911 location services had to be on at all times?

Hey all,

Newly registered member here. I just successfully applied the update on my rooted Fascinate. The update failed the first time because I forgot to restore some of the system/apps files to their original names. After renaming the files, I tried the update again and it worked fine. Unfortunately, I lost root in the process. I didn't notice that at first because Root Explorer was able to go into the file system, but when I tried to rename the Bing file, it wouldn't let me. Will see how re-rooting goes. GPS is not any faster, but works okay. My favorite new feature is the HQ button on Youtube. No more going into the menu to watch HQ video when not on wi-fi.

z4root doesnt seem to work with dl09....omj is going to post a root fix for those who cant root dl09 tomorrow...but it involves odin, and pushing clockwork recovery

Thanks. The words odin and clockwork scare me for some reason!!
But I want to disable TW and freeze the bloatware so I guess I have no choice.

How could we remove clockwork recovery to apply the update, if that is possible at all... I'd like to try to get the update OTA just encase something goes wrong that I can take it to Verizon and blame them. I know likely nothing will happen if I flash the DL09 update myself, but it'll let me rest easy if I get it from Verizon.

I had the problem with my computer recognizing. In USB Settings I changed from Mass Storage to Ask on connection. Then plugged in to computer and it seems to work now.

Anyone have problems with USB sync? before the OTA was able to sync my phone USB to my Alpine in the car. Now it wont. Phone recognizes somethings there cause it charges, but won't sync the music. I have it on mass storage, like I had before the update. Might force me to get something different. Got this phone to replace my ipod touch...

I am having the same issue. The only thing that is working for me is to leave USB debugging on when I plug it in. Otherwise I have tried all the other settings listed and that I can think of. It's kind of annoying but maybe I just have to deal.

I also noticed that when I don't have USB debugging on the phone shows up in explorer as a cd drive.

*Update*

I read somewhere to try this and I did and it worked. I plugged the phone with with USB Debugging on, then rebooted it while still plugged in. Then once it was back up I unplugged it and turned off the debugging and plugged it back in and it worked fine.

i failed. IP_UPDATE_UPDATE_FAILED

that's all i get.

it fails verifying the downloaded pkg about 1/3 of the way through. :(
