Root I think I bricked my EVO

You can get to Recovery now? If so, go here and download the odex version. This is the latest rooted stock rom. Place it on the root of your sdcard, wipe cache, dalvik-cache, and userdata/factory reset. Select Flash Zip from sdcard, select the zip and confirm to flash. Once its done, reboot the phone. It may take a bit so be patient. Let me know if it boots ok and we can go from there.
what do u mean? i know i got to place the file at the top , u want me to place all those files at the top?

Did you get recovery flashed and can now get to it from the bootloader?

im in the recovery mode now black screen with eh ra supersonic 2.3 at the bottom

Good. Download this file to your pc. In recovery, select USB-MS toggle, plug your data cable into your phone and computer. Put the file you just downloaded on the top level of your sdcard. Hit power again to toggle USB off. Got to the Wipe Menu using the volume buttons. Wipe All Userdata/factory reset, cache, and dalvik-cache. When done select return. Now select Flash Zip from sdcard, then select choose zip from sdcard, select the file you just put on the card. Hit power to confirm to flash. When it is finished reboot the phone.

Good, glad it is working again. After you get it set up the way you want it, reboot back to recovery, select nandroid back/restore, select nandroid backup, check off everything except recovery and sd-ext. then select perform backup. This will take a "snap shot" of your current set up in case something goes wrong in the future and you need to restore your phone to a point in time where it was functional. Copy that nandroid to your pc also for safe keeping as it will also contain your wimax(4g) keys in case for some reason they get lost. You will be able to restore them.

I would suggest that you read the Rooting for Dummies guide stickied at the top of the forums. It has a ton of info about rooting and some of the things you can do with your rooted phone. It will give you valuable information in case you have issues or something happens when you make a change to your phone.

well if your hboot is 2.10 then you need to use unrevoked and not revolutionary. check to make sure what your hboot is. power off then press and hold power+vol down.

go to the switching recoveries section of the guide that i linked you to. there is instructions there on how to get your recovery back. do not try and root your phone as you already have s-off.

i erased my sd card
and did another factory reset
still can use recovery or unrevoked it states something about missing CID

ok you need a recovery and not use unrevoked. do not flash or attempt something that you are unsure of or understand. it is one way to brink your phone. what you need first is a recovery. from there we can get your phone back and running. so lets try this:

1.download this file:PC36IMG_RA_2.3.zip
2.rename the file by erasing the "_RA_2.3" part of the name so that it is only named PC36IMG. make sure not to add ".zip" to the name as windows hides extensions.
3.transfer the file to the root (that means not in any folder) of the sd card.
4.power off (you most likely need to uncheck fastboot. settings/apps/uncheck fastboot.) then press and hold power+vol down.
5.hboot should see the file and select yes to update.

you should now have a recovery.

yes i can power my phone off
i did all the steps and after it updated RECOVERY wasnt a option after it updated and i selected NO (down vol.) to go back to hboot
