Root I trynig to update

No im unrooted

o.k..then when you try to update, it reboots...
After it reboots, does your phone operate normally?
Are you talking about the OTA update?
If so, then you don't really have to accept the update if it is giving you
issues.
I really don't know why an OTA update would cause reboots unless after it
updates, it auto reboots.
It's been quite a while since I took an update before I rooted.

The update is download when ever I hit install now it say shuting down then the screen goes black then the phne boots up normally. And it reboots every 2min 30 sec.

You had this issue in another thread. I think you should try a new battery.
I didn't re-read that whole thread, but you just may have a defect battery, or a hardware issue.

I cant its not sprint service its flashed to metro pcs.

no matter who the service is if your constantly rebooting then its an issue that your going to solve. If its hardware then your limited becasue of the flash. Who flashed it you or someone else? Did you change the ROM (This would require Root) Give us as much information as you can. Seeing RX's post though has me agree that it is a hardware issue in which we are of no real help. If you cant get it fixed you'll need to replace.

This sounds like what happens if the device has a custom recovery rather than the stock version. That should be easy enough to check.

It happened when he was fully rooted. Any rom he flashed wouldnt be booted longer than the 2 minutes. Eventually we had him run the ruu and then a recovery wouldnt even be installable.

Yeah, I know I saw the device wasn't rooted, but I've seen people who.ne er rooted their device somehow have a custom recovery on it anyway. That's why I figured it couldn't hurt to check. That's what the symptoms suggest to me, anyway.

EDIT: Wait, I just re-read what you said. This is the same member from a different thread? The device was rooted at a later time? I thought the issue was just with processing the OTA.

Oh yeah, I was following that thread.

That device needs repair. Looks like hardware failure (likely some bad blocks), possibly NV corruption.

But I guess there isn't any option there because the device has been flashed to another carrier.
Thanks Capt!
What exactly is NV...a certain radio? If this is off topic then please p.m. me:)

To my knowledge, NV stands for "Non-Volatile" memory.

As far as I know, when flashing a device to another carrier, specific NV items need to be changed/updated for it to work properly. Sometimes during that process, corruption can occur that causes the device to malfunction in any number of ways.
