I5700 Galaxy Spica/lite officially gets Android 2.1

I wonder if this update will work if i try it on a xp machine? To bad I gave away my old laptop that had xp on it..... cant win em all I suppose :-)

interesting... firmaware i570EXXJC1 is available from WWW.SAMSUNG-FIRMWARES.COM for a while and is quite old - it is dated a middle of March.
how do you think it is an 'official' one?
is it possible that on samsung-firmwares they have the ORIGINAL not EXPERIMENTAL f/ws?

I can only presume robuzzed in Germany has an official version as he upgraded his i5700 in Germany and he used the official process. I wouldn't consider the middle of March old taking into account Samsung announced the roll out of 2.1 for the i5700 (staring with Germany) on the 17th March, so they must have had a build ready or just ready at the time of press release. Perhaps the subsequent versions are minor changes for language/region reasons/ongoing bug fixes?

I can confirm this works in Norway, just updated.

And for the record heres a netstat from while i was updating..

UK were meant to be 2nd after Germany all the blogs etc said, as both Germany and UK would be T-mobile phones.

For some reason, my Win 7 PC refuses to install the drivers for "Samsung_Android" so I'll have to use the laptop with XP.

It was working earlier too!

In my case NPS always tries to connect to 119.31.255.73:80, which is somewhere in Korea.

I tried changing my location both from NPS and OS (Korea/Germany), tried different v1.5 f/w, tried through proxifier and different combinations, still the same result. Changing location to Korea makes NPS to take more time compared to other locations. There is more communication to the server in this case I can see.

@mrprofx

The IP your NPS connects to (194.107.19.165) also belong to the server somewhere in Korea.

It recognized my phone while disableing usb debugging.. but no update for me.

Windows 7 32-bit. Will try an older laptop with xp tomorrow.

"Kan ikke koble til serveren/Cannot connect to the server"

Just browsing the samsung-firmwares forum and noticed somebody posted a link to nps 1.5.

Netload Serious Filehosting - Netload

So I downloaded, ran the setup which removed NPS 1.4, then ran again and got 1.5 version installed, all drivers detected for my i5700 OK (as I did in nps 1.4 OK). Update still does not work though, get either 'update not necessary' or 'cannot connect to server...'

This is all in the UK on a XP SP3 laptop.

Also just tried the 1.5 version on Win 7 (in UK) and get the same two messages.
At least it appears to detect the phone more often than 1.3

Hi all
I installed 1.5 version.
Can anyone tell me how you can use any of the functions?. It see's my phone np, but i can do nothing with the software. I'm not so bothered about the 2.1 update at this point. just want to be able to backup my phone and stuff.
I noticed when you start 1.5 nps, it says select pc manager on your mobile. Dint anyone see this option?

Really carn't see this software updating your phone's, if there are no basic functions working.
Any help on this would be good thanks :)

119.31.255.73 (Gurdeep)
194.107.19.165 (Mrprofx)
212.187.171.245 (Me)

Are all from the same company; CD Networks who specialise in content delivery & they can offer geographically restricted download services!

So it looks like the servers are there, just being restircted.

Managed to get NPS working on windows 7 with 1.5 version listed here
(Dutch & Netherlands, even though living in Belgium)

Upgrade tot : phone = I5700XXIK1, pda = I5700XXIL3
this better be the right firmwares

can't seem to find much about the number of the firmware
but I found one site mentioning 1.5 so ... :'(

edit:
it even failed and made me do an emergency repair
this better fix it again, and i'm staying with 1.5 till this shit is fixed

I am flashing my Samsung i5700 to I570EXXJCE but i don't know what to choose by phone open and Pda open in Odin 3.93

I've tried to update my phone with an xp machine, and it does not work for me at all..

So that Norway is enabled or what i should call it is not entirely true.

by the way: Norwegian user manuals are uploaded to samsung.no, so i do not think its that far away.

It is strange. It seems like pure luck that I have got it here. I don't see any reason why someone else, in the same country, dosen't get the update. I am in Vestfold at the moment, but I have got it to work in Trondheim too... I wish I could help, but I don't know why I got it to work...

At the same time, this 2.1 version seems to have some reduced functionality compared to what I thought 2.1 should have. I don't get "Live wallpapers" to work, and there is no 3D-gallery. I don't know why...

It worked for me too, first try...

I am in Norway.

I did it via a "slow" mini-pc with wireless network.

I downloaded New PC Studio (Click on Download NPS-button) via this link:

Support - Phone Firmware Update - Samsung Mobile
(I used XP, but I guess it works in Win7 if it is run in Admin-mode? Right click on the exe, and chose run as admin, or maybe compatibility-mode?)

Switched off phone, removed sim and storage-card.
The phone was fully charged.

I was sure that Mass storage was set to off in the settings on the phone. If not, the PC will not find the phone, and there is only an USB-error.

Then I was able to find the phone in NPS when switching on the phone and connecting it.

There was a message popping up that there were an upgrade available.
I clicked it, clicked on Update unit-tab, found the phone and clicked next, etc.

Upgrade was a breeze, took only 15+ mins. or so.

The info on the phone after upgrade was:

Firmvare Version: 2.1-Update 1

Baseband version:
i570EXXJC1

Kernel version: 2.6.29
root@se-611#2

Build number
ECLAIR.XXJCF

It is fast and snappy, but haven't tested any big programs, yet.

i am on telenor ... my connection is good too .. 16 mbps but i don't think that has anything to do with this ? or?
