I5700 Galaxy Spica/lite officially gets Android 2.1

Whenever I use any version other than 1.3 I get2 unknown devices in device manager. One is a "CDC Abstract control model (ACM)", the other is "S3C6410 Android ADB"

Any ideas??

This WHOLE NPC issue is really starting to get on my nerves...now when I connect my phone its not identifying it at all and this morning I had no problems its beyond me why a company as high up the technological ladder as samsung cannot create and maintain what should be minor issues for them...!!!

It looks like NPS is trying to connect to 212.187.171.245 which seems to be in the UK. not sure where NPS gets this IP from so don't know how to change it!

OK, it would seem that you can get NPS to think you're in Germany!

Unfortunately, it doesn't do you any good as you get the message that the model is incorrect! I'm guessing since this is a galaxy lite & not a galaxy spica?

Hi everyone!

I just updated my Galaxy Spica to Android 2.1 (I570EXXJC1) using New PC Studio 1.3.0.IJ1 in Norway :) The mobile is a bit slower, bit it looks great so far. I suppose it is just around the corner in other countries now...

Hey Jarle, how did you do that? I live in Norway as well and all i get is " can not connect to server" and " this device is not supported" at least the NPS finds my galaxy but as far as I can see there is still no update available....

Glad to know somebody grabbed the upgrade finally and is among us. Would like to know if the upgrade process was as straight-forward? Also, you said Android 2.1 (I570EXXJC1), from what we all figured out, this release should be experimental. What do you think on that?

Thanks.

i asked on the german android forum if anybody had update through nps and got tis reply
AW: galaxy spica 2.1 nps offical update
Heya, about the same here, even tho Samsung announced the update will roll out starting with Germany it's not entirely true. Very few ppl got their update the official way (through the crappy samsung PC-Software).

Samsung responses vary from the firmware is not yet availabe to only availabe to official support centers (ppl are instructed to send their phones to in order to receive the firmware upgrade).

Nobody knows why some got lucky through the official Samsung Software but most simply used an unofficial way to flash (not final) beta and RC firmwares to their i5700 Spica (thus most likely voiding the guarantee and without backup no way to get their phones back to it's original- guarantee-proof state and also unable to upgrade with the official samsung tools once somethign is released there, their version would not match).

Hm.. That is strange. For the last few weeks NPS has always found an upgrade for my Spica, but this update has been a different version of Android 1.5, so I haven't seen any reason to install it. Today, this changed, and there was suddenly a 2.1 upgrade... Have you tried uninstalling everything that has to do with Samsung on your PC? I went to "Control panel" and uninstalled everything that said something with Samsung... Then I installed the NPS version called "New_PC_Studio_1.3.0.IJ1.exe" found on the Norwegian Samsung site... What OS are you running? My upgrade was done in Windows XP... Hope you manage to solve the problem. Apperently it is avaliable in Norway now...

I am running Vista, and I have tried everything.... deleted every thing that had to do with samsung and reinstalled the NPS from samsung.no.. When I try to start up NPS in xp mode it just stop working. Where in Norway are you at?

@ Jarle

If you knew how to backup your current/official firmware from your handset, can you do us a favour please? Would you please go ahead with that, later uploading it to some server, so that we can use it to flash our own handsets? It will be a great help then. I can try to find out the procedure.

Thanks.

It is strange. It seems like pure luck that I have got it here. I don't see any reason why someone else, in the same country, dosen't get the update. I am in Vestfold at the moment, but I have got it to work in Trondheim too... I wish I could help, but I don't know why I got it to work...

At the same time, this 2.1 version seems to have some reduced functionality compared to what I thought 2.1 should have. I don't get "Live wallpapers" to work, and there is no 3D-gallery. I don't know why...

Well, I have no idea how to do that, but I suppose I could try if it would help :) At the same time, www.Samsung-Firmwares.com seems to have uploaded the same 2.1 version (I570EXXJCF) that I have on their firmware site tonight...

iim using my daugter xp laptop because me and ar lass have both got windows 7 but it cant have been released in the uk yet all i get is can not connect to the servers ive tryed it 20 times and still the same
