I5700 Galaxy Spica/lite officially gets Android 2.1

Hehe...
I tried running the NPSAndroidCDMABinaryUpgrade from within the NPS folder and it tells me that an update is possible... Has anyone tried this? I would, but I am kinda unsure about doing it this way...

i'm useing it on a win7 32bit machine.. If it works i'm not shure of... because i have not got an update yet :P

It detects my phone each time though..

Depends if your mobile provider uses CDMA - in the UK/most of europe it's GSM - if I run the NPSandroidgsmbinaryupgrade it says network is disconnected. This executable is this update wizard after the update checker has ran and found an update is available. In thoery if the checker is not working properly and their really is an update waiting, then by running the binary upgrade exe you are jumping the process Q NPS normally goes through.

one of the exe files looks for downloaded files & tries to update the phone. I wonder if you can trick it into thinking the files were downloaded through NPS?

That's my thought too.

i connected my phone and used NPSandroidGSMbinaryupdate.exe and it found a update and it installed...but its still android 1.5...wtf is going on? O.o

What did it update from and to?

Just wondering if you need a certain version of 1.5 before NPS will offer the 2.1 update?

I dont know how big the update was, but im going to try once more and see if it works then, lol.

PS: I cant believe how a professional company such as samsung can even manage to make such a broken program. Now it just tells me i cant update now, please restart your phone and when i press OK a new message comes up telling me i dont have enough battery(its full). The urge to throw my phone at the wall is getting bigger and bigger, lol.

installed nps 1.5 off the link on here and nps starts up when i connect the phone but still get can not conect to server...im glad ive got nps working on windows 7

OK, I was messing with the phone & typed *#7284# into the dialer & I'm sure neither modem or PDA were selected. I selected PDA & now Windows cannot install drivers for "SAMSUNG_Android" & NPS does not recognise the phone! Selecting Modem changes this to "Samsung CDMA Technologies"

Setting it to PDA works in XP though!

i removed the sim and SD, yes.

Now i just updated again and its still the same bloody 1.5, nothing changed. I just dont get whats so hard about fixing this for samsung...for gods sake :/

Edit: I cant keep on trying now or im gonna end up with a big Samsung Galaxy Spica shaped hole in my TV and a busted phone, lol. Please tell if anyone has got it to work though.

Im stuck again trying to upgrade my gf's phone. Now it says no upgrade is necessary. Both phones were bought in norway although from different vendors..

I cant check versions and stuff like that since one of them are now upgraded to 2.1 :/

Hello from me! first post here. Tried to update spica through nps 1.5 and it says there is an upgrade. i start the procedure and when the download finishes the "samsung usb composite device" tries to install but i get a msg that it fails and after a while the upgrade stops. I launched the nps with administrative but still nothing!! any idea why that usb driver is not installed correctly? By the way i live in Greece but the ypdate seems to be up in the servers!!

I don't want to wait for NPS to update. I want to upgrade mine via ODIN.
I want to know how to back up my old firmware, in case I want to revert back.
Can Nandroid be used on non-rooted phones.

Ok Finally after 3hrs of fiddling around to get that Samsung modem driver correctly, upgraded mine via ODIN to 2.1.
Update was quite fast, over within 5mins, boot screen now shows model name " Samsung Galaxy Spica I5700"
Start up and Shutdown are noticeably faster :))
Ok time to fiddle around with it, byeeeee

Using NPS 1.3 on winxp this came up on Update Device:

GT-I5700
Current Version:
-PDA : I5700DAIL1
-Phone I5700DAIL1
Update version:
-PDA : I5700DAJA1
-Phone : I5700DAJA1

Is this the 2.1 update?

I don't want to try it yet cause i am not sure...
