I5700 Galaxy Spica/lite officially gets Android 2.1

I would say (again) that anybody who is going to use Odin SHOULD DEFINATELY BACK THEIR APN stuff first, then restore after.

Definitely.

Ehrm. I did the 2.1 update with Odin, but wasnt it the official? Did the guide that was linked to on the 9th page of this thread. Does that mean that i have flashed my firmware with unoriginal firmware and lost my guarantee?

What's the best way to do this?

I found the following apps very useful while upgrading my spica. They don't need rooting or anything and they are plain simple.

- APN Backup and Restore
- SMS Backup and Restore
- Call Logs Backup and Restore

im going to start another post up because members have taken over it with there unofficial flashing of there phones...i run my own forum for large scale petrol cars so i no what im taking about this post was set up for the proper release of 2.1 now if any body lookin for news on the official release all they are going to get is update by odin which is not official

It'll be fine. If your phone dies, it won't be because of the software - so long as you use an unmodded firmware, I very much doubt Samsung can even tell how you updated (or care).

A bit of a troll on Mr Petrol entertaining us all with his propriety.

I decided it was a little too mean ;)

Perspective of view is different for everyone, That does not mean we ignore and make joke out of someone who want to see the things in well structured way.

I respect got-petrol's view and refrain from posting something related to odin/unofficial firmewares in this thread.

Well below is the translation from google posted at samsung-firmwares

From what I've read so far, i570EXXJD1 is the Russion ROM and has no improvement over JCE (If you're not Russian that is

).

Hotsnow's post on 4PDA.ru forum (translated with google translate):
First impressions of XXJD1:
1) The speed of the Pantheon, the standard (not an ounce has added to the velocity, compared with JCE)
2) 130 mb free memory (no progress, everything is standard, as in the latest firmware)
3) By the way, despite the CSC with our as I understand "locale", the Russian did not appear by default)), all the handles ..
4) the Internet as "the Russian default, does not appear .. (Although all easily settled "handles")
5) gallery, music, etc. The standard applications work as well as in the JCE (subjectively, not found until the changes)
6) Video player, I thought, was a little "frolic")) (in terms of peremotok, and in terms of "Do not run ahead" sound))) Although to be honest, at this point, most likely, it's more my desire)), than real differences ... (From the same JCE)
7)Tested a few games (pulserider, Doodle Jump, well, so for pennies), which in general is going to Speke without problems)) (even on JCE, in all these games are not artful regularly occur are small, quick-passing, but slowdown .. even if you choose to bare firmware) So at XXJD1 - In principle, ideally go!
I certainly do not make the final predictions (all 3 games tested), and probably all that really hindered (3D games), and will continue to slow, but interesting!))

Or am I missing something?

Anyways, I've just flashed to this and looking for what's different...

Guys what would happen if I tried to update the firmware myself using Odin etc with a "Sim Lock"/"Network Lock" on? My phone is sim locked to tmobile in UK.

Also is there any way of backing up my current ROM?

I couldn’t wait. I just upgraded my TMOBILE UK SIM LOCKED phone to Android 2.1 using the guides knocking about on this forum. It's extremely simple. I'm off to play about with it.

Hi all,

I just installed the upgrade on my bought free i5700 in Ireland using Magnet as ISP and NPC 1.5.

My review is... do it any other way. It took me 2 hours to do one (I still have to do my wife's) and 4 retries meaning 4 full downloads of the firmware software. And a couple of "what the hell am I suppose to do now" moments due to not everything working as the messages said (take into account that I would consider myself anything but a newbie).

Seriously bad software this NPC. I'm wondering if going through the same process for the second one or go the ODIN way.

Well I just wanted to know that it's available in ROI so it shouldn't take long to be available in UK.

Regards
