Root icarus Vs 2.2

I heard Icarus are faster , less lag
2.2 got bug like mms
so like say if i install Icarus
I wont be able to download any app
on the Market
Requires 2.2 ?

Ive herd that before people said the market wont work with icarus 1.1 well it works just fine for me i used it today to download facebook and it works so dont worry
 
What are the advantages with this Icarus over 2.2 and if so how is it better!
If the smart phones and there makers where impressed with it they would use it on the cell phones already for the public?
Just want to know what is all the interest in a program outside the normal use of the cell companies regular use on cell phones.

The cell phone companies won't use it because all the crapware they get paid to put on there has been taken off, which makes it work better.

Also Icarus comes rooted. I really don't see companies using that sort of idea for mass marketing. They actually try to prevent people from rooting in most cases.

Advantages of icarus1.1 include:
1. A2sd will install all apps to SD. Not just the ones designed for a2sd.

2. Working mms.

3. Compatable with your current apps.

4. If you need support there are plenty of experienced users available.

5 very few bugs. No random uim error.

I have 2.2.1 rom now and am looking for its advantages.
Haven't found any yet, aside from geek points (+10).

Nope. No 2.2 apps.

If you use setcpu now it won't work with 2.2 either. If you are going to flash just for a couple 2.2 apps you may want to check your most commonly used apps for 2.2 compatibility.
 
I had Icarus but now I have the 2.2 froyo on my ascend and it's much better. They both work well, but the 2.2 froyo is just awesome! Until the uim error

So far I have been having a bit of trouble with froyo.

Key boards all blow
Some apps don't seem to work. Setcpu, swype and to a degree---v

Market is glitching out. Worked okay at first but hasn't updated yet. Now its pausing downloads and still says I'm dowliading LP, which was canceled. When I try to actually download LP it shows the d/ld icon in my state bar with a red 2.

Still gotta kill bloat like twitter and the crap ass keyboards.

Performance boost is insignificant unless you want to play games.

But not too many, apps2sd sucks.

I'm quite dissatisfied atm.

So other than the +10 to geek points, what are some pros you have found.

2.2 is running pretty good for me. I love speaking into the keyboard and printing out my texts for me. All my apps seem to work okay. Internet surfing is blazing fast. I don't like that picture messaging doesn't work. Icarus is just a great rom, 2.2 is good but needs some work. bluetooth does not work because the update is not for our phones either. Usb mounting also does not work

Internet through 1x is the same for me. Wifi seems faster though.

I was really mad that bluetooth doesn't work. Now I'm back to wired headphones. :(

The stock keyboard on the stock rom has the same voice to text feature.

Gonna give it use testing today. See what the battery life is like.
 
So far ive used both icarus benchmark says its faster but personal experiance 2.2 is so much better there isnt no problems so far

Shutterpoet, I have tried both downloads of froyo :
darklg.froyo.plus.cwm3.fixed.zip
and there is another at MegaUpload...

The MegaUpload doesn't even install, it says expected x args and only received x-1

The darklg.froyo that I mentioned loads and starts up but I can't get to the APN so I have no phone functionality. I am on an Ascend. Any suggestions... I really do want to mod to 2.2...

use the cwm 2.5.1.8 version. it works fine for me.

apn setting are in "settings"/"networks and wireless"/"mobile networks"/"access point names" press menu button and select "new apn"

I hate the keyboard as well what can I do is there a program or app that gives me a better one? My fingers are small but damn....always hitting letters next to the one I want. What is the best if there is another I can load and how to install and where to find it, if someone could help on that.

I'm sticking with Icarus until either an official 2.2 update or a complete 2.2 ROM comes out. None of the 2.2 ROMs out there, including CM6 and CM7, have working MMS, and CM6/7 also have camera and USB mounting issues. Icarus hasn't given me a single issue, everything I've tried works fine, so I'm sticking with the tried and true.
