.242 is out, going to have to think about this one....

Interesting! But I've resisted everything since 232 so far, so I won't get to try this out either. Hopefully this means good things for the official release though.

Until I find out what's really different than 232(that would make ANY difference to my typical use), I'm not flashing anything.

Thom is correct, No one not on .235 or higher should even think about flashing this yet. The only way to move forward if this isn't going to be the soak would be with HOB, word on the street is Moto has released this one to Verizon for SOAK to start in two to three weeks but of course Verizon could still reject it for one reason or another so don't take that as set in stone.
I'm trying to find someone to post a good screen shot Tom, maybe John can, I'm almost sure he's on .242 by now.

As far as what has changed - I perform a diff on the update.zip and the previous build to see what has changed.

The changes in this build over .238 are identical to the changes in .238 over .235, meaning the same files were altered. No new CDT.bin, no new kernel, no new radios.

So, it's basically updated apps and a few other things. Functionally interchangeable with .235 and .238. Same caveats - if you go from GB to .235 / .238 / .242 you cannot go back to GB again - new security count in CDT.bin makes it impossible.

The rumor was that you could root 6.7.242. Was that rumor correct?

(I recommend that no one accept the OTA when it comes out until it is proven that you can root it ... even if you have no plan to do so ... in a couple of months you might want to.)

Samurai (developer of House of Bionic) among others have verified .242 can be rooted same as the other ICS leaks. It's been confirmed by multiple sources here. http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-bionic-hacks/214902-downgrade-902-no-app-data-loss.html

The one thing people need to be aware of if your coming from Gingerbread for the first time is that if you ever root ICS your recovery screen will forever show the phone has been rooted before, even if you later decide to unroot. See http://androidforums.com/bionic-all...ecker-also-present-all-bionic-ics-builds.html

I don't know if some kind of disclaimer explaining this would be warranted in the All Things Root section once ICS is official or not but it seems like a good idea.

1. if you have never rooted on ICS the root check thing won't matter. It really doesn't matter anyway, just lets people see it the phone is rooted, has ever been rooted, or has never been rooted.

2 You will need to be on .905 to get/flash the OTA when it comes out. See http://androidforums.com/bionic-all-things-root/480176-how-flash-5-9-902-5-9-905-rsdlite.html to get back to .905 from ICS build .232 or lower.

Well everyone, I went to .242 last night and while I haven't had a chance to play with it much yet, I can say that those on .232 should stay there until the official OTA.
There really isn't enough of a difference to make it worth the hassle of using HOB should .242 turn out not to be the OTA for most people.

One thing I am disappointed about is I'm still clocked at 1000Mhz, I had heard rumors that Moto was working to make sure everyone got 1200Mhz with the final build of ICS but I guess it's just not meant to be for some of us.

Other than that .242 is great!!

Thanks for letting us know to stay on .232. For some reason I was tempted to flash .242 but now I'll hold off just in case.

My phone refused to go higher than 1ghz too but are you aware that now there are ways to overclock? http://androidforums.com/bionic-all-things-root/600184-overclock-those-us-stuck-1ghz-here.html

I'm have looked at this thread before but don't really care about the extra 200Mhz that much, Just thought it would be nice to get it via the OS Moto intended us to have instead of having to flash a hack on top things.
Not a lot of movement on your thread or the OP at XDA & have been wanting to see how it worked out for others. Hows it working out for you?
