ICS .244 leaked for Bionic (pulled from staging server)

OK, so I'm missing something here. I found the post the other night on what I needed to download and so forth in order to do ICS. Now I can't find the thread. Could someone point me in the right direction please? I would much rather ask my questions on that thread than post them in the wrong one and have them be off topic. Thanks!!!

Posts 39 and 40 above in this thread have links that may help you.

Thanks I found the thread with what I needed. I posted my questions and concerns over on it. Just waiting on a response so I know what I'm doing going forward.

UNLESS YOU TRULY KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND CAN FIX ANY PROBLEM SHORT OF BRICKING YOUR PHONE WITHOUT HAVING TO ASK FOR HELP IN THE FORUMS, I SUGGEST YOU LEAVE ANYTHING HIGHER THAN 6.7.232 ALONE AND PLAY IT SAFE!

Yes, I meant to do the all caps thing. This is not for the faint of heart - there is still a possibility that if you flash 6.7.235 and above, and Motorola changes the security level of the CDT.bin file again you'll be stuck on 6.7.235 and above leaks until the FXZ for the ICS Final is release - which usually takes 4-6 weeks after the OTA is released.

Also, YOU CANNOT GO BACK TO GB EVER AGAIN IF YOU INSTALL 6.7.235+.

Again, if you can fix most problems by yourself short of soft bricking your phone, then, AND ONLY THEN, would I deem you to be potentially viable to install anything higher than 6.7.232.

This is not BS, people, this is dead serious. if you ignore this warning and attempt to do so anyway, and then run into problems, be prepared to face the consequences.

And it's looking like 244 isn't going to be the final but that's all I have to say about that......

Or is .246 soaking?

Well, the fact that some of the ones who usually talk about leaks haven't said a peep could POSSIBLY be a good sign of it. If it is a soak, they would be under a non disclosure agreement and can't discuss it, which could mean not even acknowledging a leak is around.

I predicted 2012.09.12 ... so what do I know?

I'm not aware a new release was "released" or "leaked". I see a few sparse comments that there is a a new build and nothing will happen with it until Monday.

It something is in soak ... I am not soaking it.

The reason for so little talk is that ... once again ... we have a major software release ... it was transferred from Motorola to Verizon ... Verizon is Verizon-ing it, re-Verizon-ing it, and re-re-Verizon-ing it. (A.K.A. bloatware)

It will happen when it happens.

I recommend EXTREME caution. Go slow. When the last Droid X release was OTA'd the LAST build removed the capability to revert to an earlier version and there was no know way to root the OTA. Six months later a root method was developed. Go slow. Keep your eyes wide open.

I assure you this question is not rhetorical...it might be more of a SafeStrap question, but I have yet to read the instructions twice (and bloc off three hours for trouble-shooting when it all goes to shit) so it might be a really stupid question, too: why is this even a thing?

I mean, can these ICS leaks not be SafeStrap-ed? If the best-available release doesn't merit daily-driver commitment, why wouldn't you just dual-boot it with .905?

Assuming 6.7.235+ can be installed to the safe partition, do the warnings still apply, or can I overwrite it with an earlier CDT.bin-dependent security level? To reiterate, I'm talking only about the safe (/preinstall) partition.

Thom or someone else will have to answer this in detail, but I have never heard of a dual boot option with the phone. That if you install a leak it installs over what is on there.

232 and lower can still have 905 reinstalled, but anything higher than 232 can not. Everyone says that HoB (House of Bionic) has been able to sort of apply the new leaks (like 246 over 244) and they THINK (though aren't sure) that someone on something higher than 232 can be HoB'ed to apply the final OTA update, but all of the gurus on the phone and software on all Bionic forums are very clear to say do not go past 232 unless someone knows exactly what they are doing and what the consequences may be.

Just to clear some things up. Safe strap is used for installing mods, custom roms and creating back ups. You have 2 boot options safe and non-safe. With safe strap you have a stock system load (such as 6.7.232 leak) on one side and then on the other boot side you can load a custom rom (as long as the radio's are the same) and play with mod's knowing that if you screw up you will be able to boot into the stock side. In order to install a stock leak or ota it needs to be done through stock recovery. If you try and install a leak or ota with safe strap installed it will fail. Once you install a leak 6.7.235 or higher you can not overwrite an earlier CDT.bin to go back because of the locked boot loader. There is no way to load a 5.9.905 and an ICS leak on the same time. When you flash a rom it has to have the same radios as the stock system you have installed because we have no way to replace radio's with a custom recovery and the 2 systems share the radios.

Just to reiterate both systems on safe strap have to be based off the same system version whether it is 5.9.905, 6.7.232 or 6.7.246. The securities changed with the 6.7.235 leak and that nis why there is no going back to GB.

why not go to .247. doesnt that let you downgrade?
No. If you go on any leak above 232 you can not go back to 905 to get the official OTA when it's released.

So far with the leaks, House of Bionic has been able to do a sort of workaround where a person can go on the OTA doing a bit of a hassle type thing (you would have to ask the others for specifics), however, the problem with this method is the final release could have a file (you would have to ask the others for the specific file name) that wants 905 specifically on the phone, so if anyone has installed anything above 232 they would be stuck on an unofficial leak permanently in this scenario.

This is why no one should go above 232 unless they are willing to take the risk of possibly being stuck on an unofficial leak version permanently and/or possibly bricking their phone.

Actually the main purpose of HoB is evolved to where you don't need .905 on the phone to upgrade, don't let the original title of the that thread fool you. there is always a chance Moto could through a wrench in one of the updates though.

That said you should read through the OP in the link and ask questions in that thread if you decide to go that rout.
