We had a guy here that was saying he had an 'inside source' from HTC that told him that we would have ICS by September back in July. When September rolled around, he changed it to Christmas. So yeah, that guy is about as believable as the Easter Bunny painting eggs and hiding them for children. I don't remember his name. EarlyMon probably does, though.

Bluescreen of death? Haha. I think that was one trolololol on here. I'm looking a bit more forward to ICS as I would like drag down notification bar on the lock screen.

The sales rep at sprint sounded pretty confident we'd have it this month towards the end. I know... I know. I strongly believe less than 30 days away...hopefully within 2 weeks.

Well the Galaxy Nexus goes on sale at Sprint stores on the 22nd, so that would explain the recent Sprint core app updates for ICS...so hopefully they'll push ICS to our phones too

Basically, what I've found out by calling HTC is that the EVO 3D will be getting ICS (officially) by Mid-June at the latest, but most likely by the end of May. The man told me that there are two phones ahead of the EVO 3D, and then updates will be rolled out for the EVO 3D.

I don't know if this is old news, but I called because I was running out of patience and wanted to know if they're going to do it or NOT. I've never owned a smartphone before so I've never been excited over a new phone OS :D

I want to preface this post by saying this is not a complaint but something I genuinely do not not understand. I don't understand why they just don't make their plans known to the public. It's just an update. I don't see why they can't just tell people their upgrade plans. If something changes, then they can just tell us it changed.

What's that quote? "The anticipation is killing me! I hope it never ends!" lol

It means there's risk that they can't make the promised date. For example, if a previous rollout causes problems, they'll want all their attention fixing that than proceeding with the rollout.

Plus, the average owner aren't on forums obsessing and stirring up a frenzy around updates, making it even less urgent for companies to assign strict dates to updates.

And that should be a lesson to all of us for our future purchases. Get your expectations for upgrades straight. They are optional, and there's no guarantee you'll get it as soon as Google announces it. Google's announcements are targeted toward developers, not the end user of the phones.

Thanks Novox. I figured that was why! In the future I am going to make a concerted effort to get a Nexus branded phone. That's why I am hoping the Nexus that is released next year (2013) is from HTC =)

Though it makes me wonder why the Sprint Nexus was so late in gettng ICS...

Verizon had an exclusivity deal with Google/Samsung to prevent any other US carrier to (officially) carry it for a certain amount of time. It looks like it should have been 6 months and VZW was just slow to release by a month.

O I C what you guys mean. Perhaps Sprint also didn't want to announce their switch to LTE sooner than they did. Since the Nexus is LTE, that would have kind of given it away.

They started advertising the Galaxy Nexus on their site a couple months ago, or at least more than a month ago...but obviously many people didn't know, cuz Sprint had the Nexus and the switch to LTE on their website...but the people at the Sprint store had no clue what I was talking about a little over a month ago

Hmm... thought novox77 was referring to the Nexus S (not Galaxy Nexus) getting ICS very late - no?

Well if you wanna listen to the guy who said he talked to HTC and they said were in the hole (3rd phone in line) next to get the ICS update in the US...however long that will take (may-ish prolly)

I really don't mind waiting. It's not like Gingerbread is doing me some disservice or I'm not happy with it lol... That being said, I'm still looking forward to ICS. As long as we get it at some point I'll be happy.

Well I emailed HTC about the lack of update time tables for users world wide and the lack of ICS updates for our HTC EVO 3ds here is the email reply they sent me!

Dear bradley lanphere,

Thank you for contacting HTC Technical Support regarding the Ice Cream Sandwich update for your Evo 3D.

Bradley, I will happily share the information on the Ice Cream Sandwich update. I do apologize if you think that we have forgotten you. It is definitely coming for your Evo 3D.

Here is a brief explanation of where we are currently at: we are in the early stages of rolling out Android 4.0 for the HTC Sensation and HTC Sensation XE and upgrades will be more widely available in the next few weeks. The update for the HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XL will follow. Once we start pushing out updates it will take time for all carriers in each country to get the update. We are working closely with our carrier partners to nail down update schedules for our other smart phones and will have more to share very soon.

Please keep an eye on Facebook and http://www.htc.com/us/support/evo3d-sprint/downloads/ for further updates.

I hope that this information is helpful, Bradley.
