Camera and mic for recording would be top of my list.
Thanks again for doing a great job on CM9.

I would personally like to see the 3g connectivity issue addressed first. Followed by the camera, GPS was anonther one, but thats done.

Im already using ICS as my daily, which is why I would like the connectivity issue addressed first, but whatever happens after that I would be happy with whatever order you wanted them done in buddy. :)

Some battery enhancements would be killer. I'm pretty sure that my phone is never sleeping, as the battery likes to decay at a very fast rate. I lost about 35-40% last night over an 8-9 hour span with no data and nothing running.

Other than that, cameras so that Face unlock can be activated.

I voted for camera, as that would make this functional enough for me to live with on a daily basis, but I think a kernel port runs a very close second.

I would vote to clean up the overall smoothness of the ROM, its not nearly as smooth as Manteras CM7, and with hardware acc. it should be much smoother, but it is rather clunky feeling, as of 0.5.2

i completely agree i think it should be rom smoothness and performance then camera, data issues (if any), then tethering.

getting the stock apps to work properly would be nice but i'm not sure if that's a cm9 issue or something fixable

I know as a non-dev i really shouldnt have any say in what I'd like to see next.

first off, huge respect to the guys who do this in their spare time. I have hobbies of my own but not in the tech field. I lend my expertise helping some people at no charge that need help in the field I know (helping fix friends/families cars/motorcycles) but you do this stuff for complete strangers and props to that.

that said, I would love to use this ROM as a daily driver, but my phone is my main communication device and for my work I need the camera. im constantly documenting work procedures and writing How-Tos and things of that nature. my phone is my "go anwhere" camera and its saved my bacon more than a few times.

Froyocream sandwich has a decent camera app. i think same as stock. the ability to adjust saturation and contrast in the image preview is really nice, saves time editing dozens of pics in photoshop later.

I would have said gps but that just got fixed, so no problem there. GPS is the only thing that gets more use than my camera.

I voted for HDMI, because, I figured the camera is a essential part of the phone experience, its only natural to assume it will be worked on by more of the devs and the fix will come sooner.

as most people do not use hdmi, its going to be worked on last to get it working. I do love that feature though and would like to see how ICS handles hdmi.

as it stands right now, the stock rom and other froyo roms can only output 480x800 hdmi out. when plugged into hdtv it detects as 720, but its very clear that its the stock resolution upscaled or stretched. not too pretty.

this is just me rambling now, but my hope is that ICS's improvements in rendering at different resolutions (phones and tablets, one OS) will allow the phone to re-draw interface elements (text, icons, etc) at the true output resolution (720 or 1080) and be a much more usable experience for browsing, games, movies, that sort of thing.

if that doesnt come to be so, oh well. but itd be really cool and I havent heard that anywhere else

Facebook not working is totally the fault of the app not being updated to properly support ICS. My build has a workaround (read "hack") developed specifically to force it to work on ICS. It probably won't ever get merged into CM9 because it isn't the job of the ROM to provide support for apps that refuse to update to the new standard.

Yeah, I took a look at the commit in gerrit and agreed with the cm reviewers when they stated that they did not want to merge it in. It's best to just let facebook update their app to work instead of hacking our rom. Of course, WHEN facebook will update their app is a different story... I mean, they're too busy counting their millions now with their impending ipo. I know I'd be... :)

Since gps and haptics are solved, let me throw another request in: data quota.

The ics data tracking feature looks pretty damn cool, and now that we all are limited to 2.5gb, it would be useful to have.

I know something needs to be added to the kernel to make it work.

The features that need to be fixed next comes in this order:
  • Stable GPS, 3G, BT and Wifi
  • Camera/Camcorder (Hopefully better than stock quality)
  • HDMI

When all these are fixed above, I'll make the move to ICS. Right now, I am using the TG-Reloaded Rom with ICS UI flavors of vanilla and sprinkles. Mmmm :p

EDIT1: GPS was fixed in version 6.0. Thanks mantera!
EDIT2: The Network settings is a go, Thanks yumbrad, progmanos and whyzor! This is soo close to becoming a daily phone -bites ICS- soo yummy!

Ok. I'm going to look at camera support and data issues for starters. I already started looking at the camera situation. It's not as simple a fix as the fixes we've put in thusfar. I believe it'll require a decent amount of original code, rather than just a port. If we could use the ICS workaround that's out there, a commit mantera has made would have fixed it. And on the data front, I think I may have hit a data hiccup, so hopefully that means I can reproduce the problem.

OK just curious, but is HDMI even Fixable??? Every rom from cm7 to miui has hdmi not working if so why is it still broken :( Thanks!

I would say Data, Camera, tethering. as for the data I would guess that it is the same problem that was fixed in CM7 where toggling the mobiledata would fix it. no need to do airplane mode.

I'm not sure - ICS has some native support for HDMI, so hopefully it'll be doable. It would be easier if any Qualcomm phone comes out with official ICS. I haven't tried HDMI on stock froyo - does it work well? Does it work in every application - i.e. is it a screen mirror? Or only when playing media?
