Root ICS/CM9-JB/CM10 Development Thread

Even with the current bug battery life has far exceeded that of the stock ROM, and from my understanding isn't clock speed kernel related? Maybe the kernel's Dev (if not tdm) could focus on that while tdm does his thing.

Yes but blood stated that he didn't see anything in the kernel that could be causing this problem. He feels it must be os related, and it very well could be. battery life is better. If the phone could use all available frequencies I believe the overall operation of the os itself would benefit tremendously.

That would be awesome. I'm connected to usb all day testing so I don't really notice battery life too much.

Agreed, and on a semi related note my phone has spent time at the 600mhz and 800mhz frequencies. I'd upload a pic if I knew how or where lol.

Just picked up my ov for the first time in a few days. Man that screen is small, I could never go back lol.

Lmao. My girl uses my ov I hate how small the screen is lol. Then she used my marquee with ics and wouldn't give it up

I am not able to get the vm855 package to install. Recovery aborts before it starts installing.

It's not a flashable package. It's just files to copy using adb.

Really, I would recommend waiting a couple more days. I will have a unified installer and probably have the vibration and cameras working.

Here's a shot of mine. I am running alpha1a. Did the alpha b version have the same kernel?

Ah yeah that explains it. I just assumed it would flash. Alright. Thanks for all your hard work everyone. Awesome job.

Its amazing to me how everyone was wondering whether we would ever even get cm7 in a stable condition. Then comes tdm with this ics magic he works man. I thought it was a miracle to get ics on my ov then he comes to put it on the marquee! This is excellent! Bugs aside, my phone just gained new life.

Whatever phone you decide to get next tdm ... I'm following :)

No doubt. ICS/CM9 on the Marquee= sweetness!:D

I love this rom tha only problems i see is that tha camera is mest up my sms keeps closing and my market closes too

All known issues. There is a way to fix the market FCing though. Not bad at all considering it's still in the alpha stage. :D

And I got the same results using alpha 1. Maybe there are just too many frequency steps. As it stands 4, 7, and 9 appear to be useless with this ROM. Besides isn't it easier to remove these steps then compile a whole new kernel lol?

It doesn't have to do with how many frequencies there are, the stock kernel does the same thing and it only has 300, 600, 800 and 1000 yet it only used 300 or 1000.

Amazing progress guys! Can't wait to try the first beta when it's ready :-)

So, when is jellybean coming to the marquee? ;-) jk

I was hoping there might be a /system/etc/gps.conf tweak that might help. I saw a thread here at http://androidforums.com/triumph-all-things-root/386869-gps-conf-mods-via-someone-xda-forum.html that includes some extra config lines including:
# Intermediate position report, 1=enable, 0=disable
INTERMEDIATE_POS=0
#INTERMEDIATE_POS=1

I played around with this a bit, and the logs look different now.... not getting the "CDMA not supported" error, but there's something else broken and still not getting a GPS lock. On the + side, I think with a tweaked gps.conf and DISABLING GPS in location & security, I don't think I'm getting the wakelock battery drain issue anymore.

Likely on the heels of ics. As soon as I get an ics beta, I'll start on jb.

Jellybean was quickly ported to the kindle fire after the source was released. The devs stated that there were only a few changes to work around, and for the most part it was very easy to port using their existing ICS tools.
I have been using 4.1 on my kindle for about two weeks now, and I find it even more stable and faster than ICS.
