Doesn't CTMod have a screenshot option built in? Then you could use Tapatalk to upload it after configuring androidforums account to it... then voila you can insert images into your post easily! :D

He isn't on ctmod, he is on cm9. Hold the power button until the menu shows, then tap the screenshot option.

This isn't high priority but is there a way to increase volume to the phone. My prevail had great volume in general not just speaker. When it was plugged in as well. I don't know how hard it would be I tried using Volume+ but it distorts the music. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hmm, after flashing the LS855 zip plus the vm855 fix, I see "Sprint" on the lock screen and the notification drop down. I guess that must be controlled by eri.xml. which is in framework.jar.

So we have:

framework.jar at 3.9mb for one line of different text.
Mms.apk at 2.9mb for about 10 lines of different text.
build.prop at 5kb for a few lines of different text.

So we're looking at 6.8mb of unique data per phone, times 3 phones (for now). That is two more than a basic ROM would have, because a basic ROM has one set of unique data, of course.

So for a unified ROM, we can expect the size to increase by about 13.6mb or about 13%. That's a whole lot more than I was expecting.

And it will be somewhat worse on the thunderc family because they all have slightly different proprietary files for the RIL.

But wait, I remember that edify has built in support for bsdiff formatted binary patches, which I think is very similar to rdiff. So I'll need to look into that, especially for the sniper family.

There is one more file different with the AS855. It's the /system/usr/keylayout/hub_synaptics_touch.kl. The menu and home buttons need to be flipped. This was mentioned before when talking about the kernel, but thought I would mention I just flip them in this file.

On another semi related I just read in a rss feed that the guys at xda have Google now with voice fully working for armv7 processors running ics (that's us) and there is countless videos on YouTube of it trumping siri in performance. Sorry if this is sort of off topic but I think this would be a nice addition to a finally project lol.

Yes, Google Now sh!ts all over Siri. It's a minor detail though. The biggest issues right now appear to be with the kernel as it relates to the cpu being stuck at 1000mhz. Another monumental hurdle is the camera for ICS/CM9. Google completely changed the framework for the camera/camcorder for ICS, many developers just give up on it and release roms without it functioning. I'm glad we've got awesome devs that are attacking these issues in the quest for quality and functionality. Thank you guys!
I honestly haven't flashed it yet, and I've really been itching too.....been monitoring the forum since this thread blew up..I've already made my Nandroid backup of CTMod 3.68.....just been on the fence....I'm sure the kernel and camera issues will be fixed soon(did I mention our devs are beasts?)

Is the user experience and performance worth living without a camera for a short time??....is the question.....

Yes it is worth it. Ctmod is awesome but it is based on crappy gingerbread. Cm9 evev in its alpha stage is leaps and bounds ahead of what gingerbread was. Kinda hoping once this is done that bloodawn will release a ctmod cm9.

You can do what I did and flash it, make a backup of ics, then you can go back and forth between your ctmod back up and this. Even though its not done yet its quite awesome.

Also, if you are using apex launcher, they recently released a beta with a lot if the features that jellybean has. Just go into the about tab in settings, then do auto check for updates and select beta then check for updates now.

From the initial article I read here: Google Now available for extensive list of rooted devices | Android and Me

it states your device must be running 4.0 to install the app...but when you click on the XDA link: xda-developers - View Single Post - [MOD] [4.0+] [UPDATE 08/06] The Google Now for ICS Project [APK AND ZIP] [ARMv6&v7]

the XDA requirements don't mention having to be on 4.0 to install the app...so which is it?? Running a rooted LG Marquee with CWM, so can I install the app or not..???

Lol look at the title of the xda link you posted "[4.0+]" there lies your answer.

Ok, I'm going in :)

I'm on Boost so the LG8551b.zip, GAPPS....download, wipe, and flash these and I'm good?? Anything else??

Any particular GAPPS.zip? I know there are different versions

Thanks.

I remember seeing it somewhere, but is this ADB method only or is it flashable? I remember TDM saying he was working on a unified installer...

I used the one monster posted in this thread earlier. I wiped data, cleared cache, then cleared dalvik cache and then flashed. After full reboot I flashed the gapps zip.

To my understanding it's flashable....why after almost a week of being on the fence I'm finally taking the plunge :) You have CWM recovery so really all you need to do is download the necessary zips, reboot into CWM, wipe dalvik/cache, flash rom, then gapps, then reboot....Hopefully I didn't leave anything out....I don't think you need to wipe data/factory reset....

Sounds simple enough to me. What are the known bugs left aside from the camera after 1b? Seems this is stable enough for a daily driver as I am not an avid camera user anyway.

Make sure that you make a nandroid. Do a full wipe, and in clockwork mod go to advanced restore pick the date of the nandroid and only restore data. Reboot let sit for 5-10 minutes then you should be good to go. Only problem with this alpha is the camera and CPU getting stuck (blood is working on a new kernel). Other than that its great.oh yeah also check force GPU acceleration in the developer options in the settings menu it makes they I fly.. :-)

Ok, sorry in advance for the paranoid line of questioning but whenever I do this I feel like I'm defusing a bomb lol. Done it tons of times with my OV and now the Marquee, but the Marquee is different. I've killed my Marquee updating the prl on CT and brought it back to life(on the third day if you must know)using the guides here in these forums. So I've had an emotional time so far with the Marquee, but I love it.

Sorry I often drift.....

just double checking my steps as some had bootloops early on.

1)Make a nandroid backup(done!)

2)Download necessary zip files(Rom1b, gapps)

3)Boot into CWM, wipe data, clear cache, dalvik cache

4)Flash alpha1b,(wipe or clear here?), flash gapps

5)Reboot

Hope I'm not missing any flashing, wiping or clearing:p

After flashing alpha1b I just rebooted, then flashed gapps, dont know if not rebooting makes a difference but other than that you're good to go.

I've ran into some of the known issues such as GPS not locating good and the speaker doesn't work on mine with CM9. Other than that I have a nandroid of CT and flash back and forth between the two when I need to.

Correct! :) you can wipe cache and dalvik cache again if you so please.
