Root ICS/CM9-JB/CM10 Development Thread

Damn Dawg, PINK!?
LOL

Any ideas on why my MMS appears doomed?

I tried fixing permissions. Still no dice

Dont worry you aren't the only one. I believe that's the way it is on the boost version for now. I'm also able to receive mms but my phone just sits there trying to download but never does and when attempting to send will just FC. A small price to pay to test out a sweet cm9 rom :D

heres the fix for launching the camera with the button

open system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl and change

Code:
key 95 NUMPAD_COMMA
to
Code:
key 95 CAMERA

you may have to reboot after the change.

Thanks, but I'd rather avoid changing Generic.kl.

I see that dop_keypad.kl has the entry. Wonder why it's not working?

Oh, there it is. We need TWL4030_Keypad.kl with that entry. I'll fix that up tomorrow. Not that it matters much right now, as the cameras aren't working correctly.

And on a related note, I'm trying to figure out why face unlock isn't showing up as an option. I added system/etc/permissions/android.hardware.camera.front.xml but it still won't show.

New test ROM:

Goo.im Downloads - Downloading quattrimus-sniper-cm9-alpha2.zip

The only visible change from 1b, really, is that the baseband shows correctly.

This is a multi-ROM. It will automatically detect your model from the baseband. Watch the install screen for results.

You can override by creating a file /sdcard/.install.prop (note the filename begins with a dot). It should contain:

install.model=xx855

eg. set it to VM855 if you're on VM.

Let me know if/how it works. If it works well, I'll start a thread.

Lol at "piggypoofoo likes this" anyway @tdm I was wondering what is the fate of the quick launch key on the side of the phone, will it's functionality ever be restored? And anyone else using lg UI 3.0 know where I could find the lockscreen apk? Its just not the same without it.

for someone pointing fingers, they cant even look through the forum on how to change key layouts?

hummm.

great trying it now. risking sounding silly, but what is it we could override? is it the baseband detect? and why would someone want or need to override that? thanks a lot your awesome lol

Yes, you override the model if it isn't detected correctly. If you have an LS855 on boost, for example. Or an LS855 on VM like me and a couple others.

Valid models: LS855, LG855, AS855, VM855.
I can add more combinations as required, at 200kb each.

Some of the people on here using Boost use the ZVC baseband, which is Sprint's baseband. Overriding will allow them to use the Boost install method (LG855)

ill look and see

The button can be fixed to launch the camera. I forgot what I changed for it tho, ill look in a few.

Good look @bloodawn, went without a hitch. @puffyfoofoo I didn't mean any disrespect I just found your name humorous and really this isn't the place for flame wars. Especially from one whom can't grasp the difference between

ok installed without making the install.prop file. also installed gapps. baseband during install and in settings is ls855zvc-m6600a-scautsz-3.0.4t, not sure if this is what you were looking for. only thing is setup wizard crashes , i accessed setting through the drop down menu. and at this moment im starting to think i was supposed to let cm9 boot than install gapps. or do you think that i need to creat the install.prop file.

really the phone looks like its in working order, screenshots works, checked voice mail, gallery opened up when i clicked the screenshot...

ok, please disregard that. flashed a gingerbread gapps, used an ics and it works fine...

kudos on getting the front camera in working order. the rear camera would take some cool effect pics. but the phone wont save them. just green and purple lines.

mms works also!

Went ahead and flashed it right over alpha 1b without a wipe and everything went just fine. Detected boost right away and now shows baseband, I agree with monster in that it feels somewhat snappier even though there was no mention of any major changes. Still no mms though :(

strange cause i have mms send and received, but im on sprint. could other boost/sprint users confirm anything. also i wiped data, cache, delvik, between each flash. try to see if thats the case.

It probably wouldn't even make a difference which baseband is used. Boost works on the ZVC baseband too as far as I know.

The CPU doesn't seem to be sticking to 1000-300 only now either I UC it to 220 rebooted and it seemed to stick, also while the screen is off with music playing it goes at a steady 800 with on demand settings

Edit: ah nvm it went back to normal after a bit of use lol :what:

thanks for that bit of info, but was wondering if that what was supposed to come up. guessing so.. and it was created without use of the install.prop, if that matters to anyone..

ok, checked out bluetooth and it seems to work fine during calls. sent and received calls, volume up/down from earpiece. however voice dialer force closes. on another note, text to speech and google voice search work very well.

i might also add that google drive works well also. but google music wont play, really no music will play though head phones, internal speaker or bluetooth device

not to insult your intelligence, but did you do a factory, cache, dalvik wipe. i did before and after each flash of ics and gapps. and i have mms! btw im on sprint... i also fixed permisions, but that was before i checked if mms worked. so cant say if that did it.
