Root ICS/CM9-JB/CM10 Development Thread

The first thing I'm going to do is look at the ics kernel. And that will probably require a fbcon. Fun stuff. Stay tuned ...

Forgive my noob question. I know you guys are hard at work to get this gem out and running perfectly. And for that I am personally thankful because I know I don't have the patience to program, port and debug a program. I am a hardware person.

But my question is this. Any idea of when there may be a Alpha or Beta available so it can be tested by the people?

Good news / bad news:

Finally got the ics kernel up on the spectrum. I'm so stoked, that was my first major kernel port. :D That means there's hope for the marquee. :) Unfortunately, it also means I will be working on the spectrum for at least another day or two.

Congratulations! That's quite an accomplishment. I'm excited for you. It's a great feeling to put a lot of effort into something new and have it work. I'm sure another couple if days won't kill anyone here and those users will be stoked!

Any luck with stability on the spectrum with this kernel? I saw you got it ported, was curious to see how it was holding up.

I just fixed wifi today. It looks good so far. So again, this is promising for porting the p970 kernel to the marquee.

I know a decent amount about Linux kernels, but I'm always looking to expand my knowledge.

Okay that's a good start

Here is the procedure in a nutshell:

First get the marquee gb kernel source and the p970 gb kernel source from lg. Them diff the trees and try to figure it the differences between the devices. Using that knowledge, modify the p970 sources to compile and run on the marquee.

I got to be honest. I have only 4 issues with it. Screen doesn't rotate when you watch a video, Speaker volume maxes out and you can't turn the volume down if something is playing can't play HD Video via Moboplayer, it is really slow and it gets out of sync really quickly and Opera Mobile crashes every time during start up.

Other then those 4 things, this thing runs well. It does lag once in a while. But I know it is very early in development.

tdm any news with the ROM?

Made huge progress on the spectrum, only radio and cameras remain. I'm sure to be back on jb for the marquee soon. Though I really want to get the p970 ics kernel running and that's sure to be a lot of work.

That sounds great!

Crappy games = thousands of free

Premium games like Duke Nukem, Quake, Halo, etc... fee based and possibly subscription based kind of like an XBOX Live setup where you pay for the game and then monthly access or something.

Except the "a lot of work" part
