Root ICS/CM9-JB/CM10 Development Thread

how do you install cm9 on boost mobile lg marquee

This is a good place to start. There is a pretty good bit to installing CM9 and getting it set up right. You'll need to flash it, flash the Gapps, set up your MMS, and quite a few other things along the way. You'll need to wipe cache, Dalvik cache, and even factory reset at the appropriate times. I suggest reading through this thread.

[ROM][ALPHA] Quattrimus ICS - Android Forums

I also suggest reading through this thread too.

Everything you need to know can be found within these 2 threads. Please read, then ask questions. That way you'll be up2date with what's going on and will better understand how, when, and why you'll need to do the things you'll do in order to get the ROM flashed and functioning the way it should.

Yunggin85. To install cm9 or cm10 I use root explorer on SD card tap options new folder write install.prop hit done ,inside install.prop write new file with root explorer named install.model=LG855 hit done ..on recovery wipe system + cache n flash rom + gapps.

@ joeycmb. If he isn't running the Sprint baseband then he's Ok. I'm straight Boost and did not need to do any of that.

He's also gonna need to learn to do the MMS fix.

@Yunngin, before you attempt to do any of this please make yourself a backup with CWM.

You probably did something wrong happen to me too no RIL check on setting about phone if you have p970 you flash wrong Rom ....

When I got my phone back from the factory I went ahead and flashed ZV4 (Boost). I then ran CTMod for quite a while. When I decided to go ahead and flash the AOKP ROM. I did a factory reset, clear cache & Dalvik, then rebooted back into recovery by going in advanced and selecting that option. I then flashed the AOKP ROM and let it completely boot up. I let it sit for about 5 minutes after it had booted up then rebooted back into CWM. I then went ahead and flashed the GAPPS and let it sit for another 5 minutes after it had finished booting up. Then I went in and did the MMS fix by Phrant1c. By following these steps, I didn't have any problems WHATSOEVER. :D

EDIT: I also wanted to add that I originally ran the ZVC baseband. Since switching to ZV4 I honestly cannot tell any difference. Just saying. :)

Quoted from Bloods baseband post:
"ZVC is the Sprint update I setup to work with Boost, it has some extra settings and comes with different apps and ZV4 is the regular Boost update. "

In case anyone was curious..

Yeah, as far as difference in signal strength, I saw no change. When it boils down to it, if you run a custom ROM there isn't much benefit to running a Sprint baseband if you are on Boost . You basically lose all the changes when you flash a custom ROM anyway . All changes except the baseband.

Hey guys, i flashed cm10test3 on my Boost Mobile LG Marquee, I know that there isn't much support for trouble shooting just yet, but im not sure if im supposed to have service or not. When i went to Settings>About Phone everything was unknown. No service, or anything. Any one know if i did something wrong?

Thanks

Pretty sure they were still working on the ril.

Translation: no, you aren't going to have service.

I believe Bloodawn left the GSM RIL property set.

But if you fix it, all you'll succeed in doing is making the RIL crash when it gets a message that it doesn't like (I learned this earlier). Also 3G won't work because the required changes for the userspace pppd stuff aren't in the CM repos.

Tried all day to upgrade the 2.6.35 kernel to 2.6.36 in hopes that I can eventually get to 3.0.8. But all I got for my efforts was a kernel that boot looped.

Not sure what to try next. Just keep plugging away on the USB issue with CM's kernel, I guess. But I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that I just can't figure it out. :(

I think I'm giving up on the kernel, I just can't get into it lately. ordered a Nexus 4 earlier today so I can actually enjoy my phone for once instead of feeling like I gotta **** with it all the time.

gonna try to do a final GB kernel/CTMod and then take a break from developing.

sorry I couldn't be more of a help with it tdm.

I'm going to get an n4 for xmas. I'll sell my two good phones, but I still have a busted marquee to play with. It's the most fun, and the most frustrating device that I have lol.

I'm getting the n4 too. So good to see that you and tdm will be coming along. Absolutely excited about it actually.

I think the USB plug isn't that necessary, the ROM still will be very useful without that ... the RIL is another story

I'm using the first test since the day you drop it here, and it is pretty awesome beside some restarts maybe because cpu temperature or memory issues dont know, but it is almost a day to day ROM in my opinion.

Hope you get something good with all that work, good luck :D

The twl4030-usb code calls its interrupt handler twl4030_usb_irq() once in twl4030_usb_probe() immediately after requesting the irq. It's not a "real" interrupt, just an initialization step. This is broken in the 3.0.8 kernel and raises a hardware exception (I think I posted this before). The exception is caused by a gpio call in lge_battery_fet_onoff(), where it attempts to set the charger control, "gpio_set_value(CHAR_CONTROL, 1)" if the usb cable is plugged in. Here's the exception:

In-band Error seen by MPU at address 0

This happens pretty early on, so that means something in the early hardware init is different. The kernel messages look mostly the same up to this point, but there are a couple differences. I sprinkled some tracing throughout the gpio subsystem and all the gpio messages look reasonable. But the gpio code is significantly different between the kernels, so I went and forward ported the gpio code from 2.6.35. And (you guessed it) .. same results.

The thing that stands out right now is the 3.0.8 kernel shows these messages:

omap_hwmod: _populate_mpu_rt_base found no _mpu_rt_va for l4_core
omap_hwmod: _populate_mpu_rt_base found no _mpu_rt_va for l4_per
omap_hwmod: _populate_mpu_rt_base found no _mpu_rt_va for l4_wkup
omap_hwmod: _populate_mpu_rt_base found no _mpu_rt_va for usbhs_ohci
omap_hwmod: _populate_mpu_rt_base found no _mpu_rt_va for usbhs_ehci
omap_hwmod: gpt12_fck: missing clockdomain for gpt12_fck.
print_constraints: dummy:

while the 2.6.35 kernel does not. That's what I'll be looking at next.

I actually considered releasing a ROM without USB functionality. But unfortunately, I haven't been able to get my CM10 build to boot with the 3.0.8 kernel. And I can't figure out why not without adb, which requires USB.

Ok! ... Now I understand!

Hey TDM amazing work on this project. I have a simple dumb question. What are the difference in your and Bloods test zips?

Which ones specifically? If they are the ones I'm thinking of, I compiled myself with the 2.6.35 kernel, while bd used an official cm10 ROM and a 3.0.8 kernel.
