ICS... CSC are you eligible for an update?

You can try... but I doubt Kies will recognise it judging from previous posts where people have tried.

Let us know how you get on.

I tried to change my CSC to KSA..coz the original one is XSG..still same massage from kies..i down load the OJP firmware you gave to me and extract..only 2 files i get..and it is 500mb the .tar file and the other one is SS_DL.dll..what to do after this?..thank you much for help.

You can ignore the SS-DL.dll file as it is the .tar file that you will need, as per the instructions in, "Step 2: Configure Odin", here.

It seems that people are still not understanding that their firmware upgrade is reliant on their CSC.

Taken from post #1...

"What does matter is the CSC code, (Consumer Software Customisation code)."

In fairness though, there are quite a few people who are...

1. Finding that, for reasons mentioned in post #1, that they cannot use Samsung Kies to update to ICS.

2. That ICS has still not been released for their CSC code over 4 months after the initial ICS release. See post #2.

Ironass thanks for the help

I already flash my GS2 using the firmware you gave to me...

PDA KK2
PHONE K14
CSC XSA

I've tried updating my SGSII via KIEs but apparently device is 'not compatible to upgrade'. I also tried via FOTA, it'll download fine, but during the installation process it'll stop at a lousy 12%, reboot and fail. I didn't buy my phone from my carrier, so technically it should have been unlocked and among the first to receive the update in Australia but it's not working at all. I'm at my wits end - might even void my warranty and root my phone - please help.

EDIT:

Flashed my phone, KIEs finally recognizes my phone can be updated (after 7 months). Upgrading to ICS as I type. Yipeee!

hey,
there is this firmware that i saw today in samfirmware site - I9100XWLPM;I9100OXELP8;4.0.4 for russia.
i thought S2 was not getting the 4.0.4 update and also the thing about the brickbug, ?in LP5.
i am using RR remix rom now.
i was wondering whether its worth flashing this latest official firmware using Odin. i mean, is it stable and useful?
please advise. thank you.

thanks. its confusing scenario rite. all these bugs and stuff.
nyways i tried to search the chainfire app, got brickbug. but couldnt find it in the play store. has it been removed.
also i tried to install the version 1.1 of that app posted in xda, but when i tried to install it, it says unable to parse the package.
so bottomline is to avoid these 4.0.4 firmwares, for now, eventhough its official sammy?
thank you.

I think you have missed the point 1981.

As a straightforward Samsung firmware update, it is fine. It is only if you are rooted and use the ClockWorkMod, (CWM), Recovery commands that you get a problem. ;)

I am using resurrection remix latest version now. I have nandroid backed up the LPG firmware with jkay framework which I been using some time back. So can I restore to that and then flash the latest official 4.0.4 over that safely.
I just want to confirm a safe way to try flashing the latest official firmware 4.0.4.
Thank you.

I think we have strayed a little, "off topic", here... perhaps you could re-post this question in the, "All Things Root", section of the forum, here. ;)

Hello and welcome to Android Forums SaadR! :)

It rather looks as though the firmware on your phone has been changed at some time,

You are currently running CSC code OJP but Kies is showing SWC which is a Swiss code.

Reasons for this are outlined in post #1 under, "ICS is available for my code but I cannot update".

This means that you will not be able to update your firmware using Kies, as I see you are still on Gingerbread.

Therefore, you will need to download the OJP firmware of your choice for either UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt or Iraq from SamMobile and flash it using Odin, as described in post #1 under, "My firmware is not eligible for ICS yet but I want it now!".

Hope this helps.

I bought my mobile in Saudi Arabia

My old CSC is KSA

I got it updated thru Kies this afternoon...

Couldnt see in ur list.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums bright717! :)

Thanks for the heads up!

Seems there's been quite a few, "G", variant releases...

OJP = TUNISIA, EGYPT, LIBYA, IRAQ, SAUDI ARABIA

OZH = CHINA

There have also been a couple of ICS, further, updates for the, "P", variant...

ORA = UNITED KINGDOM (ORANGE)

SFR = FRANCE (SFR)

Also some further updates for the, "T", variant...

VAU = AUSTRALIA (VODAFONE)

HUT = AUSTRALIA (THREE/VODAFONE)

TNZ = NEW ZEALAND

THL = THAILAND

Further ICS updates for the Samsung Galaxy S2, GT-i9100, International version...

XEU = UNITED KINGDOM

CPW = UNITED KINGDOM (CarPhoneWarehouse)

Hello and welcome to Android Forums Erujj! :)

Your CSC code of OJP covers Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and UAE.

Possible reasons why you cannot update via Kies are shown under, "ICS is available for my code but I cannot update", in post #1. You could take it to your Samsung Service Point and request them to update it for you or, you can flash it yourself.

You will need to go to SamMobile and enter.... i9100OJP into the Search box and then select the Android 4.0.3 firmware for your location and download it to your PC.

You will then need to flash this firmware to your phone, using Odin, as described under, "My firmware is not eligible for ICS yet but I want it now!", in post #1.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums nlpnlp! :)

I think you mean that your CSC code is.. I9100OJPKJI which was released in January.

It would seem, that as you cannot update via Kies, (see post #1 for why this may be), you can either take your phone to a Samsung Service Point and ask them to upgrade it for you to ICS or you can flash the OJP firmware yourself, using Odin, as described in post #1.

thanks ironass
gest got a doubt if i had upgraded with odin and it was successful.so,can v get the old firmware back or to reset it to old version..
