No, you would have to re-flash your previous firmware using Odin.
 
For those of you on the stock Nordic Countries firmware, (NEE), it might be worth your while checking with Kies again as the Android 4.0.4 ICS release for you, LPO, has been updated to LPT.

You are currently running CSC code OJP but Kies is showing SWC which is a Swiss code.

Reasons for this are outlined in post #1 under, "ICS is available for my code but I cannot update".

This means that you will not be able to update your firmware using Kies, as I see you are still on Gingerbread.

Therefore, you will need to download the OJP firmware of your choice for either UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt or Iraq from SamMobile and flash it using Odin, as described in post #1 under, "My firmware is not eligible for ICS yet but I want it now!".

Hello Ironass,
Before trying the above update method, I changed the CSC code, by *#272*[Device IMEI]# method, to "JED" & KIES shows me the update for ICS. Now my S2 is on ICS 4.0.3

I am trying to update my Samsung Galaxy SII's current Android version (2.3.5) to the ICS version but Samsung Kies says that my device does not support software upgrading via Kies. What could be the problem? I bought my phone from a German based webstore (it came unlocked) but I am based in the Netherlands and my cell phone carrier is Vodafone.

My phone's info:

Hello and welcome to Android Forums sk81! :)

Your CSC code of XEG, (Germany), as per post #2 of this thread, has not had an ICS upgrade released for it which is quite possibly the reason you are getting the message, "device does not support software upgrading via Kies", (other reasons for this message are outlined in post #1).
.

Therefore, you have 2 choices:-

1. Sit tight and wait and see if the ICS upgrade is made available for your CSC code.

2. Pick an ICS firmware with a Netherlands language pack support, such as the Polish firmware LQB, Android 4.0.4, and flash this to your phone using Odin and the method described in post #1 under the heading, "My firmware is not eligible for ICS yet but I want it now!"
This will of course void your warranty and you will be unable to receive future updates via Kies.
 
Hm, voiding my warranty isn't a particularly desirable option, so I guess I will have to wait until the ICS update is available for my CSC code - will come back to check post #2 regularly! Thanks for the prompt reply! :)
 
There are few LPT firmwares shown for different regions in Samfirmware. Are these all exactly the same ones. Or are there minor improvements in the latest released LPT ones.

They are all XW-LPT firmware. So, no difference.

You can, using Odin, flash any GT-i9100 firmware that you want to your phone.

See posts, #369 and #374 above.

1. since I have an I9100 and OJP as CSC, any I9100OJPxxx firmware will be 100% compatible and flashing it won't void warranty, right?

2. in the ICS installation guide you adviced in the first post, rooting the device is not mentionned, is it necessary??

3. after flashing the device with the correct firmware, will I get the famous yellow tringle that people are talking about on XDA pages?

Correct! Providing your original CSC code is OJP and has not been altered in any way, either before or after you received it, see under, "ICS is available for my code but I cannot update", in post #1, it will not void your warranty.

You can double check your CSC code by entering the following into your dial pad... *#272*[Device IMEI number without brackets]#

No... this only appears if you root your device.

I installed the 4.0.4 update last week and my Samsung Galaxy S2 now keeps becoming unresponsive once the screen locks. I've cleared the cache partition and was looking at doing a factory reset, will my photo's and apps be deleted if I do this?

A Factory Reset should not touch your Internal SD card, see:-

I would always back important data up as a matter of course though.
 
Some apps data could be in the external microSD card and internal USB storage (11.5GB). If you intend to start afresh, like redownloading all the apps again, then you could take the opportunity to copy out whatever you need from there and then format those 2 memory location as well.

Factory reset does not touch the memory. But I intentionally format it after update to get rid of everything and can reorganize everything from fresh state. Just remember to copy everything that you want out and put it back. It also help that I can clear up some useful memory space by getting rid of some junk. Like I said, some apps puts useless data in the memory space.

As I am having some heating problems with stock LPG, I am looking for a better and recent 4.0.3, since the 4.0.4 has all those brick bug issues.
Please advise whether this Jamaican version is a safe try for now.

Cannot see why a stock Samsung 4.0.3 would be unsafe. The Brick Bug issue only affects rooted phones with CWM on Android 4.0.4. Since quite a few people have used LPG, myself included, with no problems whatsoever, I would suggest that the problem lies with your app's or settings and that a Factory Reset might be in order with a piecemeal restore, (not from a backup). Flashing another firmware will not solve your problems if you are using the same app's and settings.

Yes, LPG is very slick. I have been using it for sometime now. I knew that I have some bad apps regarding the battery heat issue.
Was just wondering whether the later 4.0.3 than LPG might be even better than it. Whatever bugs the LPG had, might have been cleared in the newer ones?
