Could it be that we're gonna get some ICS love our way soon? One can only dream.

is there a stable fully functional version that we can flash yet? I see the ICS for S2 is released now.

I reckon it'll be June..... Just an educated guess from my experiences with the HTC Desire, back in the day whilst waiting for Froyo..... Just a massive cluster F**k from beginning to end, Manf. Delay, Carrier delays you name it... Delays on delays, fuelled by rumour after rumour. Absolute joke and some folk still fall for it now.... General rule of thumb I reckon is "Manf official statement (Say End of Q1) Plus 1 month, then if you have a branded phone add a further 2 months on to allow for various unforseen but expected cock ups, that way, everyone is cool and there's no hassle.
Oh and don't forget, every month that goes by, it decreases our actual chances of getting the update. Galaxy Note II anyone? :D #justsaying...... ;)

I would think it will be before June (for the international version at any rate), since very mature leaked versions have been available for a month or so now already

Loving the based-on-stock custom ICS ROM on my Note, brilliant and seemingly completely stable so far (the chinese leaked version I did have needed to be restarted after a battery pull nearly daily, but was good enough as a daily driver even then).

can you point me in the direction of this? Do we need to root?

Here's the rom I believe he was talking about. It's an AOSP ICS rom. (Built from the source code.) And yes rooting is required in order to use this rom.

[ROM][LATE-DEV][10.03.12] imilka's AOSP ICS v05 [IML74K/4.0.3] - xda-developers

Nope, I was actually talking about a stock Samsung ROM (which is why I think we'll see ICS officially much sooner than June for the international Note).

The one I'm on presently is based on that leak and generally improved from the point of view of stability (although the leaked one is good enough to be a daily driver). It's the Team Rocket ICS v1.5 ROM, available in the same forum as the one you've linked to (which is also good I am told). Root required. Installation guide at the blog for the leaked Samsung one, which needs to be installed first prior to flashing these others.
