Root ICS is here!

Another new LC release today! Getting on nearly one a day now. Although after today's drama I thought he would stop developing it all together.

Apparently he has also released a CM9 version, but I can't find it anywhere :(

Without taking things OT, define "Todays Drama". I love a bit of controversy. :p

Basically two other ICS developers for the DHD have accused Lord Clockan of cherry-picking pieces of their ROMs, taking their work without credit and pretty much saying he has no idea how to make a ROM himself. Now that may or may not be true (it went in a bit too much detail for me) but they decided to have this argument in the LC ICS thread and it must have taken up about 100 pages. If you go about 20 pages back from the current page you can get a glimpse.

Personally I think it was not helpful having this argument in the thread, but the mods said it was fine. However everybody chimed in to have their say and it got a bit messy.
I also think that ROM development is a group activity, and that people should be allowed to use each others work (albeit with the proper recognition) so they can advance development as a whole. But I certainly stayed out of that one :p

I don't believe so. One of the devs has decided to leave the DHD all together and start working on ROMs for another phone. Second one is currently developing his own ICS ROM which has its own thread on xda (Playground ICS) and LC is continuing as normal. They were all working together up until recently but unfortunately this has now fragmented it even more than it was. I expect development to become a lot slower because of this, but I would like to be proven wrong on that

That all sounds a bit of a shame!

As you say... I hope that it doesn't negatively affect development!

Took the plunge and installed IceColdSandwich - 4.2. - AOKP, seamless, impressed to far, backed up & restored apps with Titanium but seem to have lost all my previous photograps & videos, small price to pay, thanks for the tips here

Have you tried searching your SD card via your pc mate? Assuming you have an SD card installed, cos as far as I was aware, it shouldn't have touched any of that stuff, at least it hadn't when i have installed Roms.

Your photographs and videos should still be on your sdcard, they won't get wiped as part of the flashing procedure.

Maybe they have taken it out of alpha and are making another thread for a RC version? It's the only thing I can think of (although still doesn't make total sense as they could have carried it on in the same thread), they wouldn't have stopped development on it surely.

Edit: Looking at this post, it looks like they might have stopped it after all - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23196873&postcount=871
No-one has given a reason though

Edit 2: They have even stopped developing their GB ROM which is a shame. They must be working on a new device or something

what a shame :/

Back to ice cold sandwich I guess :/

Edit: At the bottom of the absolution thread I see that you can download the ascension ics rom, did they merge their threads ? Or is the download just there and they stopped developing the ICS from?

For anyone who is going to update from a previous version there is reports of bugs/issues after not doing a full wipe even if some other people's update works fine. It takes like 2minutes and is good practice to wipe for every ROM.
I myself haven't been able to get ICS working at all yet (long story, see other thread) but willing to try yet again because I really like this ROM.

Is there an easy way to restore my home screen settings and accounts? The only thing that annoys me when doing a full wipe is putting everything back where it was, and re doing my email accounts/spotify/last FM etc.

TB should back up all that data, just let that handle stuff.

Re icons etc, are you using a Launcher? I know ADW comes with a Backup & Restore function which has worked well for me in the past. I think Go does too.

I'm using Nova launcher, just seen there is a backup option :)

In TB there is an 'Accounts' app with a TB logo next to it. Would I be able to restore that and my accounts would come back without having to reconfigure them? I don't think I have ever restored it before as I wasn't entirely sure what it would do
