ICS leak .247 for Bionic (Dead End)

I saw one of those, now we can make Bionic go, lol! :D

Awesome!

You are smart.

House of Bionic is updated (downdated?) for it. All those on 23x or 24x builds should get back on the OTA path and install 246. I've already done so myself.

So they are releasing not the latest build but the one before it? What was the point of 247 then?

And could this mean that the 246 release isn't identical to the 246 you all have been using?

You will know what the release is when it is soaked/OTAd.

The monumental source of their information is a page on the Verizon website. For one OTA of Gingerbread that same page had the WRONG version listed for the OTA for five weeks after it was released to everyone.

You will know what the release is when it is soaked/OTAd.

So I have been having some annoyance issues with my Bionic and I'm on .232 but have had the issues since month 2 of ownership and have only been on .232 for about a month. Anyways I discuss those issues in another thread that I started. My whole point is, I got on motorola's site and chatted online with a tech and got thru some of my issues but then did end up disclosing that I have one of the leaks.

From there I was directed to call in and talk to a tech 2. I did that and well....I more or less got the answer I was looking for. Tomorrow or next couple of days for the soak test. He knew the exact time frame but as much as he wanted to tell me he held up rather well under my questioning and told me as much as he could without getting in trouble.

My other point, is should I be putting myself back on .905 right now so I can start checking for the soak update?

I have to say that everyone on here that helps out anyone that has any issues or questions, you guys are absolutely awesome. Keep up the great work, and I'll keep coming back and asking questions and probing for more knowledge on what makes these little devices that we love much run and run to the best that they can.

Because. I've talked to people.

I'm sorry to have to ask this but I will ... are these they SAME people who emphatically said it would be 6.7.247 or are these DIFFERENT people?

Everyone is free to do WHATEVER they want. My suggestion (after having my head handed to me with the Droid X OTA) is to wait just a little longer to see what is actually released.

In my last group the litmus test was this ... "will you stake your life on it?" ... if the answer is "no" then it is opinion and not fact.

As I've said on other forums, I really don't care what people do...wait, don't wait. I give my recommendation for support with the House of Bionic. People are free to ignore that if they wish. 247 was not released because there is no intention of releasing JB for Bionic. It's as simple as that.

Good.

Now if I apply simple logic to this ... if 6.7.247 was released and it contained a patch that would make an upgrade to JB possible ... there is no reason that Motorola/Horizon would ever be required to upgrade the Bionic to JB.

It would seem to be a good strategy to go with 6.7.247 so they could keep their options open.

My question is this, why wouldn't they do JB on the Bionic? If they do it on the Razr I can't imagine it would be difficult at all to do for the Bionic since it's the exact same hardware and the $100 per phone they would have to give out in that case would seem to be more of an impact than any development time and costs as well as bad publicity. I could see it if they didn't do JB on the Razr, but then that will be a LOT of money. Just not seeing the logic for not doing JB overall.

And how do we know this 246 is the same 246 that was leaked weeks ago?

Has there ever been a leaked version with the same number as an OTA but was actually different? Asking and wondering if it's really necessary to go back to .905 or just to install a leaked .246. I guess if we wait long enough someone will upload an OTA file anyhow.

can u two take the bickering to PM? I see no earthly reason to saturate this thread with you two going "246" / "wait to see what the OTA is". OK! We got it!

Version 6.7.246 is version 6.7.246 or else it would be called 6.7.247 or .248, no difference, the same version number will always be the version it is if that makes sense, having two different ROM's called version 6.7.246 just isn't how things are done in any software development world.

True, but at the same time doesn't make any sense to do 247 and release 246, at least to me. Not to mention if 246 is good enough, than why haven't they already released it since it's been done for weeks.

That was my point. There is a precedence for Moto releasing a build that isn't the latest one leaked.

The stuff I was seeing was that 6.7.247 came in when Motorola and Verizon were negotiating a number of things about their future and 6.7.246. It seemed that 6.7.247 was some king of "proposal" from Motorola.

Is there a breakout of what was different between the two versions? (The logic that it had a patch to allow going to JB eludes me. They have ALL the code. It would seem they could install the patch when they installed the rest of the update.)
