ICS Stock ROM... it works!

Why did you get the issues though? I see the solution but don't understand why the issue occurred for you?

For me, coming from checkrom i just flashed the ICS rom of my choice via cwm and done. Some freezes with some ICS roms but i always assumed thats just the rom not an issue with the filesystem etc.

You may have assumed wrong I'm afraid. I too experienced freezes but no longer. Very slick and smooth,

This was Hawker's question and adesirello's post in reply to some of my problems:-

why would installing a stock ICS base make any difference, as the AndyX install script is a full wipe and therefore deletes /system?

is highly important to install once ICS stock ICS by Odin zero to create system folders

The fact of the matter is that he was right. As soon as I installed the stock ICS and then flashed AndyX, my problems were over.

I'm still on GB and will be for a good while as travelling

Hi m8 :wavey: Good to hear that u r alive! i thought u won`t have any connection while u travel but if u have thats good :) keep up good work and stick with GB :ridinghorse: enjoy ur trip and come back someday to get v7 :D

I flashed the stock rom, then cf-root all went OK.

To get rid of yellow triangle I then re flashed the kernel & installed zimage (as per xda guide I used before), now my phone wont get past Samsung Galaxy S2 during boot up !!

Any ideas/help please.

I can get into recovery worst case scenario.

Re-flash the CF-Root and use Triangle Away from the Play Store.

Innnnnteresting, I don't know why the roms wouldn't create the required system folders upon flashing, odd.

I've done the same with 2 other friends S2's, on VK my friend has experienced no freezes what so ever etc.

For me on Dragon i get the odd freeze but i just figured that's the rom or kernel. Super slick and smooth both dragon and vk rom but now I'm going to have to try this...... grrrr, cheers! lol :P

Up & running now but I have to say I'm already exepriencing same problems

Calender has stopped & Apex Launcher has stopped already. Havent noticed difference yet :(

Edit; had to revert to my problematic AndyX backup. I tried this fix 3 times. Ensuring wipes, USB deletes, factory reset, etc but something was definately not right.

Every other thing I went to do on phone caused a crash.

Now I'm really stuck what to do!

Did you do a Factory reset and wipe the internal USB storage before flashing the stock ROM and did you re-install System data from Titanium Backup?

Definately did wipe internal USB and factory reset before the usual deletes/wipes in recovery mode.

Re installed through Titanium & yes prob system data seperate (to get settings, wifi, p'words, accounts, etc back) think I can see where this is going .........

How else can I get above back?

After flashing the stock ROM and re-downloading Titanium Backup from the Play Store, because you should have automatic restore disabled temporarily in your Google account at start-up.

Open TB > Backup/Restore >Menu > Batch > Restore > RUN "Restore all apps with data" as opposed to Restore all system data or Restore missing apps+all system data.

Most of the problems I've seen with ICS were because of System Data from GB being transferred over to ICS... it can cause conflicts.

Of course, the other answer is to start completely from scratch and not use TB.

Just show off!

Am loving the SGSIII Dandelion ripple effect, live wallpaper on my stock ROM.

Heaven knows what it will do to my battery though... but it is very pretty and calming.

See mattye's AF post, here.

I'm not convinced Google backup & restore has actually ever done anything for me, think I've only once been given the restore option after a flash.

I'll give it a last attempt tonite, by doing apps & data through TB, I'll lose just Wi-Fi and settings I guess??

Did u do anything else in between Stock from flash and CF root flash??

Cheers for urbhepp Ironass

I flashed the stock ROM. Booted up. Signed in. Did not accept auto restore. then flashed the CF-Root kernel as per the Dummies Guide. Then used TB for Restore.

I would suggest playing around with it for a little bit before the TB restore and see if your problems are still there. That way, if you should find a problem after TB restore, you'll know it was an app/data that caused it. Narrows it down a bit. ;)

Here is a copy of the Quick Panel, 15 toggle mod in blue with battery % for those who want the ICS blue theme in their Notification/Status bar'

Download CWM .zip file, here.

I'm using a live wallpaper for the first time ever. It's a dark blue sea type wallpaper with jellyfish floating around. It's a bit darker than the dandelion one so will be more power efficient, but I've been running it for about eight hours and my battery has been off the charger since about 10am. I honestly haven't noticed a difference in battery life to using a static wallpaper. I have 70% remaining, screen on about an hour.

Right.. flashed rom, was fine. Flashed CF-Root, was fine.
As soon as I restored "apps with data" it started immediately. Have had 6 android.acore has stopped, etc, etc within 10 minutes :mad:

I actually wanna give stock a go with Siyah to see what its like, got fed up of problematic ROM's.

Have I any choice but downloading from market 1 by 1 and losing data I had within those apps??

Welcome to ICS ironass! :D:D Only 4 months late to the game, but you've arrived at a time when ICS is getting pretty stable and more fun to use. Hope you stick with it!

So, you now know that, as a lot of people are finding, that it is not ICS at fault but, rather, something/s that you are adding in apps+data. At least you have now narrowed it down! ;)

Since, at this stage, you do not know which app or app's or data is causing the problem then the choice is yours.

Judging from the error you are receiving, "android.acore has stopped", you could, if you are using it, try un-installing FaceBook to see if that helps as that message is usually linked to Contacts and FB is usually the prime candidate.

Well I'm up and running & have to say so far very impressed.

Flash #4 last night & by chance picked Google restore. Bar 5, all apps restored and contacts. Used TB only for few bits of data on apps & mybackup root for few other little things.

Forgotten what stock looked like a bit & its not that bad. Will use blue icons to change notification bar, thanx Ironass, few other things like keyboard easy to change. Some icons bit iphony like phone/contacts/messaging & shame can't change notification bar toggle.

Battery so far.....looking v.impressive!!

Cheers for your help Ironass.

so is this required for all ics roms? and should it increase stability on all ics roms?

I can't say that it is required for all ROM's as I am not familiar with all their file structures.

However, I think it is safe to say that since all these custom Samsung based ROM's were built around an original ICS stock base and file structure, etc; then it might be a good idea to start with that before flashing the custom ROM's they are based on.
