Just to clear a few things up:
ALL STOCK Samsung ROM's are ODEXED
99.99% of CUSTOM ROM's are DEODEXED.
Being odexed/deodexed is not the point being put across here. What this thread is about is the fact that flashing a STOCK ICS ROM through Odin seems to be of benefit if you are having troubles with your CUSTOM ICS ROM. I cannot be certain about this, but there is a consensus that certain files/folders are created/initialized during the flashing of the stock ROM in Odin that perhaps are not addressed when flashing a CUSTOM ROM, thus giving your CUSTOM ROM a more stable base to flash onto.
I've never had trouble from any of my custom ROM flashes when I came directly from GB, but I've heard of quite a few people that have, and flashing a STOCK ROM does seem to have its benefits in such cases.
Where i got lost was when I clicked link to download LPF I was given option of odexed & deodexed, this threw me & didn't know anything bout them, hence the questions carrying on in thread.
I had the issues with ICS but flashing stock improved my phone ten fold, I may even stick with stock for while longer.
Your talking about JKay here. This is just a mod, not a ROM.
Which one you install (odex/deodex) depends on your current ROM
Like I already mentioned
Stock ROMs are ODEXED
Custom ROMs are DEODEXED.
Not necessarily!
It depends on the mod.
You could still flash deodexed mods onto a stock rom and they would work, but this depends on the mod and which apk's then effect. Some will work, some wont.
I would be surprised if you could find any odexed mods (apart from JKay)
JKay's framework wouldnt work if the incorrect version is flashed, which is why you need specific odexed/deodexed framework versions to install onto your corresponding odexed (stock)/deodexed (custom) rom.
The thick plottens!

Can you see the cache partition and the Dalvik cache (under advanced)? If so, I would think the first thing to try would be wiping those.

When flashing an ICS stock ROM through odin What options should I check in Odin?
Thanks again!

The same as the one's I told you in post #61![]()

After 2 days of switching between stock LPG and NEAT LPG I can say that I'm very happy with this release. I cannot detect any major differences over the LPF release though.
It is very quick and smooth and certainly a lot more polished than the LPQ and LPS firmwares.
To anyone thinking of switching from Gingerbread, this would be a good ROM to go for.![]()

Think I'm going to give this a try. I'm on checkrom v6 at the moment. Are the newest ICS stock roms regarded in the main as better than checkromv6?
I'm confused tho by all this LPG, LPO, LPS stuff. What do I download for a UK unbranded handset?
I actually liked the stock ROM. It had colourful, easy to identify, icons... particularly useful for someone who wears reading glasses and doesn
Thanks for the comments Mehrad1983!
If you like the stock ROM look then you might want to consider the NEAT ROM which is very good on battery life as well as slick and smooth. :thumb:
Cheers pal,
Actually in between our conversation going on here I downloaded the latest 4.0.4 European ROM leaked the other day :
GT-I9100 - Open Europe
PDA: I9100XXLQ5
CSC: I9100OXALQ5
Version: 4.0.4
Date: 2012-06-28
Regions: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom
But unfortunately I am getting a installation aborted message as soon as I am attempting to install in from CWM.
Considered restoring my Stock ROM from Nandroid which just finished and I am gonna try again since my stock one which is I updated it from kies on top of GB is extremely laggy.
I'll definitely consider flashing NEAT right away before I switch to stock ... Thanks for the recommendation ...

That's an Odin install (.tar or .md5) file surely, not a CWM zip?![]()
