ICS update

Funny enough (sarcasm) I think we will be possibly the last ones on earth that will get updated to ICS - I just don't think that T-Mobile actually has any intention to update the firmware and practically when you read some of the CEO's statements he seems to be saying the exact opposite so they seem to be thinking that they are pulling a fast one on us!!!

What is taking so long? UPDATE click here

I know - it seems next time I buy a phone I will just dish the 500 dollars for the unbranded hardware so I don't have to depend on stupid carriers to tell me when I can update or not. Also the next time I get a phone it will be the google branded so I can have access to the new system when it becomes available.

Just saw an article on Tmonews that says there's a possibility of ICS coming to the Samsung Galaxy on T-Mobile on May 14th. Of course this is subject to change and might be false but it brings us hope!

Upgraded to ICS version 4.0.3 via Kies on Friday. I am on T-Mobile in the UK.

Firmware now PDA:LPB / PHONE:LPB / CSC:LPC (TMU)

Baseband version I9100BVLPB

Keernel Version 3.0.15-I9100BVLPB-CL310231dpi@DELL151#3

I am going to throw a wild guess here and say that you that is not the T989 or the T-Mobile USA version of the Samsung Galaxy S 2

Hi had the phone about 3 month now i just went tosoftware update and there it was ready to download so put wi-fi on and done the update:D

Have i got the correct update ...?

Do you have the U.S. version? SGH-T989? If so, are you saying that Tmoble USA has pushed the ICS update?

The reason I am skeptical is that even Tmobile's earliest estimate for the release of the ICS update is 5/16. Furthermore, I have seen no one else in the US on any forum with the USA SGH-T989 is claiming to have received the stock ICS update via Kies or otherwise.

Finally, you have not addressed the point raised by alextop in his post about the update version and the device version.

If you are claiming a US update please provide more info.

or its from xda, that racer dude. the guy that helps me at the t mobile store used that one and says it works flawlessly

I guess that's possible, and I considered that but ruled it out because he is implying that it is a stock update pushed by Tmo:

To me, it sounds as though he is claiming that it was pushed by Tmo over Kies or OTA. However, I could be wrong. We need more details to know definitively what's going on.

Yes, I see your point. I even went back and looked at some of his previous posts to see what he has but you can't tell. but I was just talking to the t mobile guy this morning face to face at he showed me his I c s on his phone and it is not from t mobile. it was hacked from an at&t update

Exactly. You can't tell. I am skeptical of new members posting wild claims while offering no real follow up info.
There are numerous hacked versions for rooted phones but those are NOT downloaded via the software update feature. And he made it clear that he obtained his alleged "update" via the stock software update.

Forgive my skepticism but I remain dubious and unconvinced that Moota has a stock Tmo ICS update pushed by Tmo that he downloaded via the "software update" feature. Furthermore, to me, it is suspicious that he offers no follow up info.

Yeah. Where did he go? I'm curious what his (or my?) major malfunction is.
