Root Idiots rooting help request

Well I dont think that my computer restarting in the middle of the process would help the situation. I am confused on one step in the process. In the link from the XDA site, it mentions to pull your battery and plug your phone into your computer as one of the first steps to installing CWM with ODIN. If I pull my battery, will my phone even restart? That part kinda confused me.

So after a couple ROM loads and return to stocks, I have the StupidFast from Rom Manager installed and I re-installed the WiFi software (Root with support for WiFi is how I rooted) and the program installs and opens, but when I touch the screen to activate it says it is working but there 0.00 KB of data transfer and my laptop does not see the available WiFi network. I am unsecured with default setup.

I tried dragging down the curtain and activating the WiFi, thinking that maybe I needed both, but that did nothing.

Any ideas as too why this is not able to be seen and why there is no data transfer being counted when I connect the software?

larry which stupidfast, one of them supposedly broke wifi I think, and just to clarify you have no wifi at all ever?

StupidFast V1.54 (DJ05) but on DI01 with no haptic feedback.

Using my house (Comcast -> Belkin Wireless N) I can use the phone over the Belkin.

I took my Netbook and phone into work last night and wanted to use the Netbook over the phone, the phone acting as a WiFi Hotspot and it just loads the program for WiFi and claims to connect when you tap the screen, but then displays 0.00KB up and down and the Netbook does not see the WiFi hotspot in the network list.

I had originally installed the Wireless Tether 2.0.2 but when it was not working I removed it and downloaded/installed version 2.0.5 and found that it will not work. I can change over to StupidFast V1.23 or the new StupidFast Test V1.70 (But I do not have the DJ05, so that might not work with my setup.)

yeah tbh you really shouldnt be running DJ05 kernels with DI01...i mean no haptic feedback is the major issue but ive always assumed there were others....i mean DJ05 kernels with a DI01 wasnt meant to be used together ;)

If it makes you feel better, me and Saps took a long walk in the park last night and held hands while he wispered soothing words into my ear about how great my life will be once I join him in the DJ05 world. I am preparing to make the jump.

(PS The walk in the park was IRC and the words wispered were him insinuating that I am scared!)

Larry stop giving away the secrets of late night irc
although I'd take that late night walk with you anytime again especially if we can hit that bar at 6am for that $1.99 breakfast & brew ;)

OK Saps, all bullcrap aside, I think I am ready with:

DJ05 Modem
DJ05 Stock Deodexed ROM

Is there anything else required before I start this?

There is a folder in there called Kernal Update, and inside that folder are two files, Redbend_ua and a file called zImage.

A couple days ago my wife made mashed potatos and Stuffed Peppers (otherwise called "Pepper Balls") and it is another food that I eat oddly. I layer about an inch of potato on the plate, cut the pepper ball into small pieces, layer a heavy coating of that corn that is frozen with the thick butter sauce, and then slather the Tomato Soup based gravey that the pepper balls are cooked in, all over the stack. A healthy dose of pepper (as in salt and pepper) and a sprinkle of Frank's Red Hot.... and OMG! That there is some good stuff! When you come over and crash here, you will love the food!

I assume I do the ROM first (with clockwork) and then after it is over do the ODIN method to install DJ05 Modem second?

Let me know, I'm ready to brick this thing!

Doing a fresh batch backup of all apps and user data.
Already did an Outlook backup.
Going to do a Clockwork backup again.
Then it will be what it will be. To DJ05 I will go!

In Clockwork, what are the commands of the various keys? I always have to fumble-fudge through this.

volume to navigae
power to select
menu to go back a page..im pretty sure this is same for green as red

and home makes your screen black but just push again and it will come back up

yum larry btw guys larry is now all good he popped in irc and all is dandy now :)
