If your a long standing sprint customer you should read this.

I have a conundrum, I almost canceled sprint service in Jan/10 without EFT due to the .20 cent fee increase and move to Verizon for a smartphone but the data package with Verizon was too much so I decided to stay with sprint and wait for a good Smartphone and long came the EVO!!!!!

In order to get me to stay, retention to give me a monthly $10 credit. This is to run the length of my contract (1 more year).

I don’t know what going out 2 more years will do to that credit and if it goes away once I extend?

Right now its $120 (12 x $10) or $140 (2 lines x $70) and worth it to try for the $70

BUT if I get to keep it and extend when I get the EVO for the next 2 years then $240 (24 x $10) would be better.

I an afraid to ask Sprint CS in case they make a note of it take it off once I get the EVO.

Try signing into your Sprint account and look for your upgrade eligibility. It should not have moved. Your rep probably didn't know. Its not uncommon with Sprint.

That not my problem I still have my may 13th upgrade, and I got the 70 dollar credit on my other 2 lines. I was told that I can only have the 70 dollar or the 150 upgrade not both on my main line.

Whereas every one else has 70 dollars to spare:mad:

Anything in particular that you guys said to get this deal? I'm currently out of contract and I asked about this loyalty credit and they said that I was not a targeted consumer for this promo.

I'm going to call back before next Fri, but I would like some more ammo to work with.

My whole chat session is posted on the first page of this thread, read it and get some ideas.

I tried doing this a couple weeks ago. I have been with Sprint for 10 years and I have been out of contract since May 8 of this year. I was told that I could get the $70 credit for extending my contract but it would reset my upgrade eligibility. She said I would have to wait a full year before i qualified for upgrade.

That was basically what I was told, I opted for the upgrade on line 1, and took the 70 dollars on lines 2 and 3=140.00

I think you will have to "sign" an new contract when you activate your EVO on the 4th. That's at least how the rep explained it to me when I called Sprint yesterday. My account was only eligible for a $50 credit and the credit is there today. I'm wondering if the amount of the credit goes by how much your monthly charge is. My husband's line is out of contract so we may have a talk with retention when he decides to upgrade.

I guess I'll call sprint again to clarify. But she said since Im getting the credit today my contract is renewed. So, I will still be able to get the phone for 199 even though I resigned my contract today. They cant sign me for a 4 year contract.

I am just going to wait till they update online before I call, that way I can verify what is going on. I don't want to waste there time and don't want to waste my time.

I did this as well, however, I wasn't thinking and I had already placed a pre-order with RadioShack.

So, I'm a bit confused, now that I have renewed my contract prior to getting the EVO, I would think RS would not sell me the phone, or at least, if they did sell it, they would sell it to me at their full retail price of $499, right?

They make most of their money through new accounts and renewals, so I can't imagine them letting me get the phone for $200.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Just go to sprint.com and look up your account to see if you still have an upgrade, and if you don't call them and bitch.

I still have an upgrade, however, as I mentioned, RS makes their money mostly through contract renewals. I have my $150 device upgrade credit, but my contract's new date is 5/23/12, so, I would not be able to renew at my RS, and I assume this means they may only be able to sell me the device at full price, perhaps.

They'll be able to renew you again and it'll just move your date up. This shouldn't change anything for them.

To clear up some confusion or misinformation: the $70 "incentive" for doing a new 2 year contract and the "upgrade discount" have NOTHING to do with one another, you can and should be able to get both of them. It is TRUE what someone mentioned above though, that you do need to renew your line for $70 credit FIRST and then later in a separate transaction, you can go to a store and get your upgraded phone with the $150 2 year contract discount. For some reason you can't do both at the same time, whatever, just call/chat/e-mail Sprint, if you're eligible they're more than happy to let you sign a new two year contract. Just make sure it's very clear that you still expect to be able to upgrade your phone "next week" or whatever when you talk with them. The credit should show up on your account pretty quickly, and you'll still be eligible for your upgrade.
Also, whether or not they'll give you $70 has nothing to do with how long you've been a customer, it probably has more to do with your plan type. As long as you aren't on SERO(though doubtless some of those intrepid subscribers have managed it!) they'll probably give you $70 for resubscribing for 2 years. I had only been a subscriber for 2 years when I did this as described above in Oct. to get a Hero. If the top of the line phone is always going to be released at $199, that extra 70 means you get your new ace phone for a measly $129. Though of course I have to brag that I got Best Buy to sell me the Hero for $149 the first day of presale, so it only cost me $79 at the time!

Why am I reading this post if I know this stuff? Because I'm hoping to stumble across something about Hero buyers being extended an early upgrade for the EVO!

I talked to them via chat last night. I have one line that has been out of contract for over a year. That line is also eligible for the $150 upgrade. I asked about the $70 credit for renewing a contract on the line. Their response was I could do that but then it would reset my upgrade eligibility on the line (They brought that up, I didn't even ask about it).

Here is a snippet of the chat:

05/26/2010 10:13:06PM Agent (Patrick R): "We offer $70.00 service credit to our valuable customers for renewing their agreement by two years. This offer is promotional and the customers are randomly selected for this offer."
05/26/2010 10:15:00PM Agent (Patrick R): "The contract date is ended of line *********8 since 01/16/2009, so you are eligible for this."
05/26/2010 10:16:07PM Agent (Patrick R): "If you will opt for this then, you will not be able to avail upgrade rebate of $150.00."
05/26/2010 10:17:20PM ME: "ah ok, hrmm, i might have to think about it then, i don't have plans at the moment to upgrade that line but don't think i want to lose the possibility of the upgrade rebate"
05/26/2010 10:17:48PM Agent (Patrick R): "I understand."
05/26/2010 10:18:05PM Agent (Patrick R): "Is there anything else I can assist you with?"

That was the same thing I was told. Thanks for sharing.

I just finished a chat session myself. I was told that the $70 credit for 2 year contract renewals does exist, but I would lose my upgrade status so, I didn't push it. However, things got interesting when I asked about the $10 EVO charge including Sprint TV Xtra. Here's that part of the chat (along with his final statement of clarity regarding the $70 credit vs the upgrade credit):

9:05:06 AM : Andre K. Humes: So...it looks like you're basically saying that if I renew my contract now, I would qualify for the $70 credit now. But, If I wanted to upgrade my phone in the near future, I would not get my current upgrade offer. Or vice versa...correct

9:05:33 AM : George D: Yes you are right.

9:06:14 AM : Andre K. Humes: Sounds like it would be more beneficial for me to just keep my current upgrade offer in tact. Thanks for the clarification.

9:06:58 AM : George D: Yes in upgrade it is more beneficial than $70.00.

9:07:41 AM : Andre K. Humes: Well...that's all I need then. Thanks for your help, George.

9:07:48 AM : George D: May I know in which line you want to upgrade so that I can it?

9:08:20 AM : Andre K. Humes: The 9366 line should be eligible for an upgrade on 6/1.

9:08:38 AM : George D: Ok let me check.

9:09:43 AM : George D: Yes in this account you will be eligible for upgrade in June.

9:10:15 AM : Andre K. Humes: Actually...i just thought of another question if you have time. I've been reading about the new $10 add-on that's necessary if you want the EVO 4G and I have a question...will that include the Premium Sprint TV channels?

9:10:33 AM : George D: Sure.

9:10:36 AM : Andre K. Humes: Thanks for the upgrade check, by the way.

9:10:48 AM : George D: Your welcome.

9:12:50 AM : George D: Yes Premium Sprint TV service is available in $10.00. You don't have to pay for anything extra for the service.

9:13:06 AM : Andre K. Humes: Are you sure about the TV...Because, as I understand it now, there are two levels of channels associated with Sprint TV (regular vs. premium). With my current plan, I automatically get the regular channels but have to pay extra for the premium channels. If I get the EVO 4G, will the $10 add-on ensure the extra premium channels?

9:13:50 AM : Andre K. Humes: I just looked up and saw what you typed. That will be an unexpected treat if that holds true!

9:15:03 AM : George D: Please allow me few of moments to check the details.

9:15:18 AM : Andre K. Humes: Take your time...

9:15:33 AM : George D: Thank you.

9:16:35 AM : Andre K. Humes: Just so you'll know I'm talking about Sprint TV vs. Sprint TV Xtra

9:17:18 AM : George D: I understand your concern. Let me check for you.

9:20:24 AM : George D: I am sorry to keep you waiting. This is taking a while, can you please hold on for some more time.

9:20:34 AM : Andre K. Humes: It's ok...

9:23:19 AM : George D: I am sorry to keep you in long hold.

9:23:32 AM : George D: I apologize for the delay. The changes I’m making require a little extra time; I will have them completed in just a moment.

9:23:39 AM : Andre K. Humes: Trust me...it's ok. I was blessed with patience.

9:24:02 AM : Andre K. Humes: What changes?

9:24:39 AM : George D: Please disregard my last statement.

9:24:46 AM : Andre K. Humes: Ok

9:25:29 AM : George D: I am looking for the exact answer for Sprint TV premium services.

9:25:41 AM : Andre K. Humes: Ok

9:31:20 AM : George D: I appreciate your patience. I am still researching that information for you. I appreciate your patience. I am still researching that information for you.

9:31:35 AM : Andre K. Humes: OK...OK... :-)

9:31:50 AM : George D: Thank you.

9:34:15 AM : George D: Thank you for your patience, I will have that information shortly.

9:34:21 AM : Andre K. Humes: Cool

9:38:06 AM : George D: Thank you for your patience.

9:38:36 AM : George D: Yes you can use the Premium services in $10.00.

9:39:44 AM : George D: $10.00 includes:For unlimited data usage while in 3 G/4 G Sprint network.
For the rich data experience that EVO provides whether in 3G or 4G Sprint network.

9:40:02 AM : Andre K. Humes: So...you're saying that the Sprint TV Xtra channels (ex: Comedy Central, MSNBC, Nickelodeon) will be included with the $10 add-on for the EVO 4G?

9:40:21 AM : George D: EVO’s features are custom made for data-loving customers. With a 4.3 inch display, watching a You Tube video, or your favorite show on Haul has never been better. Just pop out the handy kickstand and watch videos on-the-go.

9:40:35 AM : George D: Yes it include in $10.00.

9:41:13 AM : George D: These are some of the features that you can use in $10.00.

9:41:50 AM : Andre K. Humes: Sounds like you getting your copy/paste on!!! Anyway...If I get the EVO, how do I go about adding the Sprint TV Xtra? Will it happen automatically, or do I have to call in to add it?

9:42:32 AM : George D: I am sorry these are some of the features.

9:43:15 AM : Andre K. Humes: I was just kidding!!! What about the other part of the question...will I have to call in to add the channels or will it be automatic?

9:44:03 AM : George D: Please allow me a few moments to check this. Sorry for the delay.

9:44:20 AM : Andre K. Humes: Alrighty then...

9:44:43 AM : George D: Thank you.

9:45:38 AM : George D: In EVO 4 G handset these features are already added for $10.00.

9:47:02 AM : Andre K. Humes: Thanks for answering all of my questions. So, if I get the phone and activate Sprint TV...the Sprint TV Xtra channels will automatically be available?

9:47:12 AM : George D: EVO 4 G includes these feature at $10.00.

9:47:27 AM : Andre K. Humes: So, I can take that as a yes?

9:48:33 AM : George D: Yes. $10 Premium Pack will include TV. You may need to subscribe to it through your phone but there will be no charges.

9:49:38 AM : Andre K. Humes: Well...THAT was worth the wait! It also makes the $10 charge easier to swallow. Thank you so much for your hard work.

9:50:03 AM : George D: You are welcome. I am glad I was able to answer your questions.

9:50:17 AM : George D: My goal is to ensure the issues that prompted you to chat are fully resolved. Have I resolved all of your issues today?

9:50:33 AM : Andre K. Humes: That's all I need...you have a good day, George.

I just called they gave me 50$ off on my secondary line I will take it and keep paying at my normal rate (its a mental thing ..just will feel nice to see bill and have it constantly look cheaper lol)

jkid--thanks! :D It worked for me. Today I got a $70 'loyalty' credit for a 2-yr renewal AND preserved the right for a full upgrade for the EVO next week (been eligible for a full upgrade for more than one year). It took some talking, maybe 15 min in all, but I remained calm and the rep worked with me. Sprint will send me a confirmation in writing to my email address, and I got the rep's Operator ID and name.

As much as I try, this thread is giving me a headache. I still don't get it.

You call sprint to get a 70 credit by extending your contract two years. this is done before you get the evo so you can get the 199 price, but wouldn't BB, RS, EVP etc see that your contract is up in two years and thus make you not be eligible to get the evo at 199.

or am i missing something here.

TS

Contract date and upgrade eligibility aren't linked anymore. Back in the old days of Sprint, they were.

However, your upgrade eligibility and contract expiry date can be different :)

LOL...Looks like they chose the wrong custom "hold" script to use. HAHAHA...I used to be a CS manager/Floor Supervisor, so I'm familiar with how chat works. Was probably on a phone call at the same time and hit clicked on the wrong thing on the keyboard!...ROFLMAO

Dude...that had me cracking up when that happened. Regardless, I'm saving a draft of that chat for when I attempt to get the Sprint TV Xtra channels for free. If I see a charge, I'll whip the chat out and hopefully get the famous "$10 for 2 years" credit the hard way!

BTW, anybody on this thread work at BB Mobile? If there is someone on here that does work there, would you mind PM'ing me because I have to verify some information.

I called Sprint yesterday and told them I was going to be upgrading my plan next Friday when the EVO comes out, I currently have a "$50 Free & Clear Plan". They told me that my upgrade eligibility isn't until next Feb. and they can't move it up, it has nothing to do with upgrading my plan, so I won't be able to get the phone for $199, which I pretty much already knew. But, the very nice CS rep offered me a $240 discount on my new 2 year plan once I upgrade next Friday, but it's $10 per month for the length of the contract. She also told me that I do qualify for a $75 discount on the EVO, or any new phone, instead of the eligible upgrade. And that's not all, :p, I also got a 10% discount on my monthly bill for belonging to a credit union. The best part, after I told her that I had already pre-ordered my EVO at BB, she told me that I could still get all of this through BB. Can anyone who works at BestBuy confirm this? If not, I'm gonna have to stand in line at Sprint on Friday to take advantage of all these discounts.
