im ready to root sprint hero

Everything is awesome. My phone is so much smoother. Itwas so easy to do it like they said it will take you less then an hour to do it.

If you are getting confused make your life simple use the one click method, what SW version are you running?? We will walk you through it, it will be painless

Thanks Don. I read the FAQ several times and I like to think I am fairly computer literate but for some reason this has me a little confused. LOL I did follow rooting for 2.1 last night and couldn't get pass the part where you are sending files over via the command prompt. I kept getting an error when I tried to type "adb devices". I don't want to hijack this thread so I think I will try to read up on rooting today since I have today off and will try rooting again. If I fail, I will just start another thread and ask for help there.

How's everything runngin jrenzoni?

Hey guys, I think I am ready to root as well, and get Froyo 2.2 running on my slow 2.1 hero. I do have some questions though. Is everything saved to the SD card? I have a 2GB card now, and I know I probably should have gotten a larger one to boost performance a lil, but will this suffice for now?

8GB is better but 2 GB is fine, as long as you don't have too many songs saved, and Nandroid backs ups on your SD card, then you will be fine. I would suggest when you are ready open your own thread and we will guide you in there when ready. Simply read up a little to get familiar with the the terms and what we will be talking about and them you will be ready to come to the dark side. ;)

I thought I had posted in this thread and had forgotten about it when I saw your posts thathrill! LOL

I ran into the same problem when I went to root my Hero and found out that in the thread where I was following the instructions, the download that it makes available does not include the "adb.exe" application and that's why it wouldn't do anything. Now that I got all of that straightened out, I have ran into another problem that I can't get past and I am also so confused about everything...I have been about to do it and then backed out at least 4 times now (and then I decided to give up yesterday when I ran into the new problem).

Anyway, I thought I would let you know about the problem where you can't run the adb command lines. There should be a post in the thread where it will give you another link for the file that has the executable file you need in it (if you are using the xda developers guide).

Good luck!!! I know I could get to where I had the "$" at the beginning of my command line...but couldn't do anything after that (running the unrevoked command).
:p
