im ready to root sprint hero

it worked!!! im all rooted running asopmod, everything is working great, gmail account is up. thanks for all your help everyone.

so now if i want to change my rom all i have to do it do a nandroid back up to save current rom, d/l new rom to sd, clear everything then reboot new rom.

I would make a nandroid right now after you set up everything, just in case;) Then when you are ready to try something new, make a nandroid then again

Yep, nandroid, download, wipe everything, flash new rom:D

Have fun:):)

sweet, thanks again for everyone thats helped me out. i have onr other question, overclocking is it something i should do to make the phone a bit faster, is it safe, what app do you recommend

Try to boot into recovery the way I told you next time instead of using the Rom Manger, it is better and sometimes when flashing a Rom you will not always have Rom Manager installed unless you are using Titanium Backup, or Google to install your apps, but using the RM to flash is not the best way to do it. Enjoy and remember Nandroid is your best friend, have fun with your new toy and keep us post on your process ;)

On AOSP, don't worry about OC, it has a stock kernel and is all you need, when you play with other Roms, you can play with that, but take baby steps, and learn what you have then we can go from there ;)

I would try overclock widget from the market. After putting the widget on the screen, simply set the frequency. I have mine set at Min 537 Max 768. If your phone freezes or reboots, lower the Max frequency to the next available frequency until you find that happy place

I am Lucky Set 176 min and 768 Max no issues - wake lag or excessive batt. Drain.
Asops Rom is Automatically OC'd to 690

No buddy as Andy calls up, The 3 Amigos, LOL :D or should I say five O as in, Steve Mcgarett, Danno Williamsd and Chin Ho Kelly LMAO :D

Congrats.....
Liberating the world - one root at a time....We are....

When you mean no Vmail, you mean Sprint Vmail or VVM ?? I am assuming you are still on AOSP Correct ?

ok i do have one problem, i have no voicemail. is there some app i need to download or something.

Yep you got the dreaded Vmail text from the new release from Sprint, did you upgrade anything from Sprint in reference to your VMail. I don't use Sprint for my Vmail I use Youmail and others use Google Voice.

sprint vmail. when some one leaves one i get a txt saying i have a voicemail.

Yes I believe so, you will need to call them and tell them your don't want it, and get the agents name and ID number. read Lisa thread she talks about in one of the threads, I believe I also did the upgrade but I check marked not to receive the text a while back

yeah i think i did, does that mean thell start charging me for that crap. so how will i be able to get vmail back?

Change the phone number in yours Settings> Call Settings > VM from *84 to your number.
That works for some -

ok that worked, but i dont like the how you have to call the number and ues the numbers to move around voice mail, like press 7 to delete message. is there an app that is like the vmail app on 2.1 were you just click on the message you want to hear.

If you set up Youmail or Googlevoice it takes Sprint Vmail out of the equation and you will not have the issue anymore and it will be free to listen to your Vmails from your phone if you are not on an unlimited plan with Sprint.

i have unlimited, and i dont really have a problem with sprint. i dont even have voice mail as an icon on me home screen its like i dont have a vmail app. is the one from 2.1 even available to download.

Ive been wanting to root for a while and it all seems so complicated with all of the flashing, nandroid, and roms (oh my!) can someone come over and root it for me. LOL

If you live in Bora Bora or Hawaii and send me a plane ticket, I am on my way, LOL, Bro it is easy, when you are ready and you see one of us 3 Amigos here or there are many others that are knowledgeable from this forum also, we will help you and walk you through the process and have you rooted and Rom running within the hour, I would simply read a few threads of others that have rooted so you are familiar with what were are talking about, make sure you have the proper app you want to use for rooting depending on your SW version, make sure you have Rom Manger installed and we will be ready to go. Night time is the best time to do this when most are on the forums after supper time is my suggestion. Rooting itself will take less than 5 minutes, then you can simply back up your Stock Rooted Rom, and then play with that to start and when ready you can play with other Roms. ;)

Thanks Don. I read the FAQ several times and I like to think I am fairly computer literate but for some reason this has me a little confused. LOL I did follow rooting for 2.1 last night and couldn't get pass the part where you are sending files over via the command prompt. I kept getting an error when I tried to type "adb devices". I don't want to hijack this thread so I think I will try to read up on rooting today since I have today off and will try rooting again. If I fail, I will just start another thread and ask for help there.

How's everything runngin jrenzoni?
