I'm sorry everyone :(

Phases

NO LONGER ADMIN
I made the unrecoverable mistake of deleting the wrong forum after combing this with the Function. Fortunately I think it was only six threads but still.. I'm sorry! I don't make mistakes like this often but I'm only human so they can happen.

Sorry again :(

Wow, the entire Function forum is gone along with several threads on this forum! That's so frustrating. There have been many good discussions on function forum and I was hoping to merge these two when we get official name for Verizon SGS2 model. So there is no way to recover the forum deleted?

Yeah, Phases, doesn't AF make backups or something? That was a LOT of information and useful links...

If not, I guess we get to do our best to get back to what we were talking about. You're only human - and since we're both in Middle Tennessee, I guess I forgive you... THIS TIME ;) :)

So is it official that the Stratosphere has replaced the Function or is it still just speculation? I know the function was speculation as well, I'm just curious.

Somehow I lost over 10 posts, interesting...

The name "Function" was given to us by a phone case maker a long time ago. I think we have more evidence that it'll be called the Stratosphere at this point. If the Stratosphere is actually that slider we heard about earler than my next best guess would be that the GSII will be the "Illusion".

As Donald Trump would say, "Yer fired!" No, don't even worry about it. Stuff happens and life goes on. S'ok! But I do like the idea of you buying us all Stratospheres. Or at least getting Verizon to move the launch date up by about a month! :-D

So that's what happened, I noticed a bunch of my hard-won thankses went to the bit bucket. :-(

I just hope this doesn't turn out to have been premature. Stratosphere could still turn out not to be an SGS2 variant.

What's going on here really? I noticed another thread just got deleted.
That would have been my thread. I requested its deletion because the problem of the missing forum had been addressed. I told Phases that it would be ok if he deleted it.

uh oh. I heard you pissed off samsung after you deleted that thread.. now there going to delay this version for another month.

Still speculation nobody knows for sure what the stratosphere is. I think verizon wont release 2 dual core lte phones the same day but hey lets hope I'm wrong although the slider that was shown awhile back looks nice and if that was the stratosphere I would not be disappointed unless they don't bump up the specs any. But testers said it was much faster than the fascinate which is always a good sign.

I've been thinking this too, mostly because I really want a SGS2 variant to come out in August. Even if it's 3G. I don't see how:

1. August could have no releases at all
2. Verizon would release 2 almost identical phones on the same exact day.

Even if they don't promote the Stratosphere as much as the Bionic it's still going to be a toss up for many buyers. Not to mention I feel the SGS2 will be FAR more popular among casual android users.

Most who ate on the fence or new to android will go with which has more advertising which will be the bionic since they will probably have a huge marketing campaign behind it.

That's a good point. Not to mention, few Americans who've heard of the success of SGS2 in Europe will even realize that's what Stratosphere is -- the downside of having different branded names for nearly identical products.

That is a really good point. Do you think Samsung will spend any money out of it's own pocket for advertising? I would think with all the rave reviews of the device the phone would sell itself. Engadget gave it a 9/10. I could see the marketing now it writes itself.

"The #1 Android smartphone of 2011. Now on Verizon (or Now in America!) get yours today!"

I think that combined with the much more sleek design would pull in just about every casual android user. That and the screen. And I think the unlocked bootloader would pull in the hardcore android fans. Honestly I see no reason to get the Bionic if the SGS2 comes out on the same day. I stand firm that the Stratosphere is going to be a mid to high range slider, and not direct competition for the Bionic.
