Incredible 2 - anyone else getting one?

I'm surprised there's no thread on this yet (?)

Just ordered an Incredible 2 from VZW. Paid $13 extra for overnight.

I almost wasn't going to get it, as I think I'll really miss my DInc 1's trackball sensor at times... especially as a wakeup button using No Lock.

However, the slightly larger screen kept pulling me :)

Now off to try to find a dock for it. Wish me luck!

With two years left on my contract no, I'm not. With that said if I were up for a new phone I wouldn't. Single core, 1GHz processor, no 4G; its not THAT much of a step up from our current phone.

I agree with Homan. It isn't a significant enough improvement over the original Incredible to warrant an upgrade at this point. I am going to hold off for a new phone with higher specs since my contract isn't up for another year anyway.

Single/dual core isn't really a huge deal yet. Maybe once android is optimized for dual core.
and Inc 2 processor will definitely be an improvement, even though it has the same clock speed (which honestly has next to no real world meaning. It's just a handy/cool sounding way to advertise processors) it will be both faster and more efficient.

And 4g is only an issue if you'll get 4g in your market in the next year. Many/most of us won't.

No I'm not either. Dual core is a big deal, as apps are developed for the future they will be able to benefit from that. Also, no 4G is big.

Agree with much if not all of the above. Good perspective on reality.

If I stay with Verizon, I'm waiting for the next flagship phone. Sure, you're always outdated as soon as you get your new toy home but a few phones (DI @ Verizon, Evo @ Sprint) just have that staying power that seems to put you ahead of the curve for a longer period of time. And being a root fan, these phones also receive a long run of dev support, key for me. I'm not seeing that phone in the lineup right now. An argument could be made for the TB but the reason I'm holding back is Euph's points above.

There is going to be a breakpoint where it makes the most sense to get into the fray as 4G spreads it's wings. Hopefully, there will be a landmark phone released near that time and that's the phone I will be going with. Until then, I don't really see a pressing need to upgrade as the DI is still holding it's own quite well considering it's age.

Thought about it for a minute, but then saw that it doesn't do 4G, and no dual-core killed it for me. I could do an early upgrade for $149, but no, I'll wait as well. My contract expires in December. I'm sure they'll be the Inc. 2.5 or 3.0 by then! :o)

I'm with most of the others. I want a real Incredible 2, not a 1.2. There's nothing, well, Incredible, about it at this point. NTM the ridiculous price. I wouldn't pay $50 for it, so $200 is insane. That's flagship phone price, like when the DI first launched...not a run of the mill, lost in the crowd phone.

I want HTC, Verizon, dual core, 1.2 ghz, 1 gig RAM, 2.3+, 3.7-4.0" and 4G. I might settle for a bit less here and there, but to miss all/most of them means a for sure pass.

Why does this thread make me think that this forum is going to continue to be really popular with all of us who are staying on the original Incredible.

(Yes, that means I'm staying with my original phone and I still have a year left on it)

Stopped in store to try it out this morning.

What I liked were the front cam, and bright ass screen, much brighter than my one year old Dinc.

Other than that.... nothing else impressed.

It looks like a nice step up for those who love their Dinc and are smart enough to not buy into the dual core non-sense. Some people don't have to have the latest and greatest. I do agree that it is overpriced. Should be $100 - I see the $200 price being justified by the fact that people shell out that much for the iPhone and this is clearly a better device, but come on...Apple has to pay for all those commercials.

I picked one up. I will be selling my original DInc very soon. This phone is the perfect upgrade for me. I like the slightly bigger real estate on the screen...it's super light...despite it not being an AMOLED like my original DInc, the screen is crisp and clear. 1GB of internal space is good enough for me...16GB of external...I just may use the forward facing camera, too.

I really like some of the tweaks to Sense 2.1. Hopefully this device will get 2.3 soon also. The only thing I am disappointed with is that 2.2.1 still doesn't support device encryption for ActiveSync profiles. I've just learned that 2.2 and older devices may actually "lie" to the Exchange servers and get past this. My new DInc2 will not do that.

BUt for the money these phones cost, you might as well try to get the most up to date technology. And a single core 1 ghz processor is not. I'm going to pass.

Agree with this, thought the tbolt had the best screen outta the three (my 1 year old inc, inc 2, tbolt)

Also when scrolling through home screens i kept accidentally selecting stuff, i was opening apps and what not instead of going left and right through the home screens.... not sure what that was about but don't have that problem with my phone ever or when playing with tbolt... just throwing that out there....

Nope. There'll be much better phones available in a year when my contract's up. iPhone 5, anyone?

(kidding!)

I only bought this phone to hole me off for a year... hopefully its rooted before then! haha maybe ill have to get a TB

I thought about it but I really want a dual core phone with sense 3.0 like the sensation. So, i guess I'm passing on this one although I really want it.

I noticed inc 2 had more sense related features than tbolt.... is inc 2 version of sense newer or something?

It was small things I noticed... on inc 2 if you hit the app drawer there was tabs for all, most used, and something else... just me or tbolt doesn't have that

Yes, it has a newer version of sense than the TB. Doesn't bother me the TB doesn't and won't have it, it's a few less things I don't have to remove :)

Yea but i really liked the 'most used apps' tab. The tbolt has the recently used in the drop down but not the same....

For all those saying 'for all the money I'm paying, I want the most up-to-date blah blah blah...'..

I got my brand new Dinc2 for $120 bucks. I'd like to see someone find a more 'up-to-date' phone that's going to only cost me that much. I'm not going to bankrupt myself so my phone can bring up Google three seconds faster. It's not worth it.

I'm thinking about it. One thing unmentioned so far is that the Inc2 is a World Phone. I was recently in France on business, and my Inc was USELESS.

Also, not that many options on Verizon if you want HTC's Sense AND a World Phone.

I am holding off for right now, to see what else develops before I go overseas again. Ideally, I would like an HTC dual-core phone with GSM capabilities before I make a commitment.

I drove 25 minutes to the nearest verizon store to get one with my discounted upgrade. I waited in line for an hour then when I was next in line another customer walked in and the Rep. started to help him, so after another 25 minutes waiting I got frustrated tolled the store Rep. that I didn't appreciate her letting another person butting in line and walked out. Frustrated when I got home I sent a strongly worded email about my experience to Verizon, like that would do any good but I felt a little better anyway!! I think I'll just wait and see a while to see if they come down on the price in a few mths.

i just found out i have an upgrade available (which is weird since i pre ordered this phone with an upgrade ~11 months ago on a 2 yr...) anyways, im still in love with this thing and what verizion has now isnt too much different then a dic. i dont need 4g right now so thats not an issue. im only really waiting for 2 things, dual core and netflix to get their sh!t together...but by GF is getting one in a few days so at least i'll get to play with it!
