It also says that chip will be available for customer sampling in 2h of 2012. I think may 2012 is 1h of 2012.

it depends on where you look according to PCmag:

"Gordon noted that the Incredible 4G doesn't have an underclocked processor; Verizon and HTC just decided to go with a slower part."
HTC: No 'One' Phones for Verizon Wireless … Yet | News & Opinion | PCMag.com

Other sites say it IS an underclocked part, so who knows at this point, but this article actually names the source from HTC, who also notes it has an unlocked bootloader

so either HTCs PR guy was wrong, or lying about it being underclocked, or its an 8930

Are you guys speculating/hoping that it'll be $150 with a new contract upgrade or without? I hope retail price isn't bogus. I don't have an upgrade for another year. Maybe I can b**** and moan my way into a new contract but we will see.

I don't know that I have ever seen a new phone for $150 at retail price, even a flip phone.

This will probably be $400+ retail price.

My wife's Incredible is broken and she needs a new phone. This would be perfect, but if Verizon doesn't announce a release date on Monday, I think we're going to have to pull the trigger on something else :(

just found this bit of information
AnandTech - Qualcomm Announces a Bunch of Krait Based Snapdragon S4 SoCs

Below the 8960 is the MSM8930, a dual-core Krait (up to 1.2GHz) offering with only a single LPDDR2 memory channel (up to 1066MHz data rate). The 8930 will actually use a faster GPU than the 8960, the Adreno 305, although it'll be more memory bandwidth limited. The 8930 will also debut later than the 8960 partially due to its new GPU.

The 8930 features LTE support, but if you want a version without it there's the new MSM8x30. Similarly, if you want a version without an integrated baseband altogether there's the APQ8030. The ISP in the xx30 series supports 1080p video decode and up to a 13.5MP camera (down from 20MP in the xx60 SoCs).

Sadly Anand was mistaken about the Adreno 305 being faster than the 225, its a newer design but its at the low end

Qualcomm News and Events - Press Releases Qualcomm Announces Next-generation Snapdragon Mobile Chipset Family

"the new Adreno 305 GPU which delivers more than six times the performance of the original Adreno"

"the Adreno 225 GPU which delivers eight times the performance of the original Adreno"

i read that too kingbee but who is to say that is even correct since it shows the 8930 as a single core cpu.

I have seen the 8930 as a q2 2012 and q3 2012 release date. so until the dinc4g comes out its all speculation i guess.

edit--- maybe what is going to happen is the first releases are going to be a lower clocked 8960 and the later ones will be the 8930 when its ready...
I have seen this in other types of electronics before. not sure if phones would be like this though

well the one x and samsung galaxy s3 will have different SOCs in different regions, but who knows, I just hope it has the 8960

So then it would be better to wait 3-4 months after this phone is released before you buy?

if your asking by what i said. no. it would mean that the first version out would use an underclocked 8960 and then when the 8930 becomes available to HTC in q2 2012 they could start putting that in there instead of the 8960 underclocked.
of course this is just pure speculation

I agree with that in that the bugs are more worked out, although I think you get the maximum value out of a lot of products if you get it at launch.

If I wait a few months and still have it for the same 2 years and get to pay $50-$100 less for it, how is buying it at launch a better value? Aside from bragging rights (no one I know cares what phone I have), being a guinea pig (working out bugs and fixes), and learning how to maximize battery life? By waiting I save money, get a phone that has been field tested and have a website full of tips and tricks. I want my new phone setup quick and usable. I'm not a tweaker that endlessly changes things. My og Dinc hasn't changed since after the first month I got it.

Technology has a very short lifespan before it is replaced and obsoleted. Buying early in the life cycle maximizes it's "life".

I agree that waiting a bit to let others work out the kinks is seen as beneficial by some....just not by me. ;)

Exactly what I meant. :)

The "lifespan" of technology? Is it really obsolete if it still meets your needs? If having the latest and greatest phone is what you want, more power to you, but lets be honest about. It's a want, not a need. Nothing is obsolete until it fails to meet your needs. Don't fall for all the hype that is designed simply to sell you more stuff.

This. The OG Dinc will continue to function for some people as long as there are apps available that will run on GB.

If you have a HH Gregg nearby, the Rezound is at $149.99. If you have been on the fence over this Inc 4g like I have, it doesn't seem to be a ' gotta have it phone ' for me , so Best Buy price matched plus the $50 gift card deal I'm at $100 for the Rezound. I hope vzw gets their act together on the 4 real quick, sounds like alot of people aren't as impressed as they had hoped and are jumping ship. Hope the Rez works out as I expect...or it's back to smoke signals for me ! HOW.
