Installing the OTA 2.1 file

You should have had all contacts as Google contacts and not Phone contacts. Unfortunately, those that were Phone contacts are now gone.
I've heard this several times, and it hasn't been the case for me. I have plenty of "phone" contacts, and none of them have been lost during leak installs. What am I missing?

I have a feeling that when the update is posted on PCD it will be a exe that runs a full system flash. Leakers will probably be able to load that, we are excluded from this OTA and it is probably a good thing.

However I am also in the camp that the leak and OTA are the same. Until I see a post stating a feature that I do not have, I'll be staying in that camp.

Fellow v3'ers look at like this, we were already at the party.

Well all I can say is FINALLY!

I grabbed the OTA file and going to update my wife's Eris tonight, since she's still on 1.5. Mine's been on the 2.1v3 leak, rooted BTW, for a couple of weeks and was planning on doing the same to hers since it's been running fairly good (except for the random browser crashes).

Then the news broke that the official 2.1 was getting sent out via OTA starting on the 11th, I figured i'll hold off in case there are fixes. My wife doesn't care about root.

Of course based on all the feedback in the forums it seems the only difference is that the OTA includes the updated baseband 2.42.

The only thing is in the XDA forums i read that there are known Bluetooth issues with Baseband v2.42, which i why i only went up to last build of 2.41 on mine. can anyone confirm this?

Yuup...I was just looking forward to the OTA in hopes it would fix the dialer lag and call recognition lag issues...other than that v3 is great

I know some people have 2 phones (theirs + wife/husband, whatever) and some leaked while other stayed on 1.5. Has anybody thought of trying to compare the 2 to see if there are actual differences between the leak and the OTA?

This is what I'm waiting on, I'm on 2.1v3 and I'm waiting for the wife's to update, so I can see them side by side. Anyone done this yet?

Thanks all for convincing me that the water was warm. Still deleting files... Hurray, I can't wait......

the only different between OTA and the leaks is the HBOOT... not sure if this means anything for how the OS runs on the phone, but it supposedly affects your ability to root.

I saw a couple people in here trying to modify the files in the OTA .zip file to get it working for 2.1 leakers and then getting errors at the sig check. If you open a file from the .zip, modify it, then put it back, the .zip sig changes. You cannot do this unless you can resign it...but if you could do that, we would have root by now. Just fyi so you don't waste your time.

The instructions were spot on once they were updated! No issues at all. Took about 15-20 minutes to go from 1.5 ---> 2.1 w00t.
