Insurance for Note 2

First Best Buy refused to add insurance on my new phone. Now at another and she said up front yes we can. Now just waiting to see. I hate BB sometimes.

Got it. $10 a month and its done. Didnt even need to look at the receipt. Going to report the other Bb some how.

No luck here in NJ. Just went to 2 separate BBs. Talked to their supervisors, etc. They will NOT offer an insurance for a phone not purchased from BB. Period. The same with Costco (I tried a few weeks ago).

Nizmoz, make sure they didn't misunderstood you about where the phone was purchased. You don't want to end up paying $240 and find out after 2 years they will not service your phone because they don't have a receipt record of you purchasing it from BB. I had an issue with them a few years back on a camera purchased from BB with 4yr warranty which broke right before warranty expired. Thank God I had my original receipt (all faded) because they couldn't find it in their computer records and refused to service it at first.

Per the guy I am marked in their system and I don't even have to show proof of purchase, it's just marked on my phone #, and the type of phone I own. And they saw and know I got it from AT&T.

I am going to be getting a Note 2 in the next few days and was wondering what everyone's opinion is on a Protection Plan thru Squaretrade? I am current protected by the Best Buy Black Tie Smartphone plan but am not very happy with there service.

I just got my Note and I then bought the 2 year protection plan from squaretrade for $90. There's a thread in the note 2 section about this very thing so I would browse through that section for some extra information but in my opinion, the 2 year insurance plan is one of the better ones out there.

moved you over to this thread.

just curious, why are you not happy with BB's protection plan?

That doesn't matter as both are used. Refurb means nothing more than being returned and being fixed if needed.

I don't about you, but I'd rather have a used phone with no known issues than a refurbished one. I remembered having a refurbished phone and it did have a refurbished label inside.

Ocnbrze I'm am a bit disappointed with BB protection, I've used it 3 time and have had an issue each time mostly with the refurbished phone they replace with. First time wife washed her evo shift took it in and they weren't paying attention and did the claim on my phone sent her an evo 4G not evo shift even though it was all correct on paperwork. 2 weeks later finally got phone back. Second time the screen on my Evo 4G had bad pixels they replaced it with a refurbished but when I went to pick it up and bb tried to activate it came back with a corrupt esn and they couldn't activate so they had to send that one back for another one, and finally 3 weeks later I got another refurbished evo 4G. That refurbished evo lasted me a month before the power port came off inside of the phone and pushed way up inside making it impossible to charge. Then it was a repeat of the first time I took my Evo in came back with corrupt esn, which by the way means that that phone was reported lost or stolen, this coming direct from sprint mouth. Again 3 weeks and it was finally resolved. So that's why I'm looking for other options.

Oh and for the poster above who believes Best Buy will give you a loaner samsung note or note 2 I don't remember which you said it would be when you take your phone in for service, I says show me where it's says that according to best buy. The best loaner phone I ended up with from best buy was a cheap 5 year old blackberry. But I'm hoping you can please prove me wrong about that, cuz if so I may stick with best buys black tie protection.

A lot of people in this forum are raving about Best Buy, and their $10/month no-deductible with temp N2 loaner while you are waiting. That sounds like the best deal.

As an alternative, getting a good case that you feel comfortable with - is your cheapest option ;)

Also, as a food for thought, IMHO insurance is a must if you are going with no case or minimalistic case (w/o much of a protection).

Twister where did you find info about getting an N2 loaner when you take your phone in for service thru Best Buy? Best loaner I ever got from best buy was a crazy blackberry.

wow!!!! when i had geek squad protection for my evo 3d, i took it in to get the screen replaced as i dropped it. they replaced with no issues. i also have it for my evo lte as well. never had any issues.

sorry to hear it...i guess i do not blame you then.

and yes they give a cheap loner phone....nothing like a note or note 2....LOL i wish.

I have the same thing with Verizon, BUT what I don't like is that you get a refurb and not a new one. I paid full price for my GN2 and if I have to replace, I want a new one, not a refurb.

Think about it this way: Your used phone is broken, so why should they give you a new one? If your car is wrecked, does the automobile insurance company give you a new car?

Think about it another way: If the insurance company gave you a brand new phone every time a used phone is broken, people would be breaking phones left and right on purpose just to get a brand new phone. Unfortunately, there are a lot of dishonest people out there and the honest people have to pay for them.

It sucks, I know. But it's the way the world works.

I use Asurion through Sprint. It costs more, but time is money. They are very easy to deal with, and when I've had to use them, I always got my replacement phone the very NEXT day. Easy Peasy!

I just assume its going to be another N2 based from other posts. Don't have any personal experience with that, so thanks for clarification. My only experience dealing with BB was fixing my camera and it was awful as well.
