I have not tried that, just tried the hard reset if you will. I'll do that and report back.

When I'm in recovery, it's showing sdcard0 and sdcard1. It appears to me their might be some duplication? Everything in sdcard1 is in sdcard0, among other things.

I think(?) Sdcard and sdcard0 are the same thing and mean internal storage and sdcard1 means your external sd card.
When i first went above android 4.2 it made a mess of my storage lol but a full reset sorted everything out

I'm surprised this wouldn't be a widespread and known problem with this phone/rom if it were a JB issue. What you could do, since you're wiped anyway, is to try flashing the most recent stock rom.
(by that I mean a custom rom based on the most recent stock)
