Root [International] Danvdh ROMs

I'm all up an running to exactly how I want my phone to be.
Here are the issues I've noticed so far

1. wifi only works with static IP address, DHCP fails to connect. If you have never done this before, when setting up the wizard and entering wifi, you need to show the advanced options
then scroll down and change dhcp to static
then actually enter an ip address in the box (dont just leave the one that it shows or connect wont become enabled) You're better off just entering the one that it puts in (eg. 192.168.1.100 or something)
2. There are some UI issues in the clock app when ADDING alarms. Sometimes hangs, and the repeat days text disappear when the checkbox is ticked/unticked. Does not seem to happen after the alarm has been added.
3. The Dark Theme toggle in the stock SMS app does not work. SMS app is always dark regardless.
4. When picking a ringotone I get a strange entry at postion 2: Default ringtone (%1$s)

I'm now 100% up and running back to normal and that's all I've found.
Excellent work Dan!

By the way, I love the new dialler in this, with the letter initial icons for contact with no photo. VERY nice
I usually like dark themed diallers, but I love this light one
:D

Wi-Fi problem is a bit of a pain.

Any noticeable benefits our improvements?

Not a pain really Syd. Just do as I mentioned and everything will work fine.

The new dialler is very nice.
Apart from that, I've not noticed anything new in settings etc.
But apparently the bugs in 4.4.2 (eg led on missed calls and hopefully some BT issues, amongst many other things) have been ironed out so its well worth upgrading.

I cheated and did exactly what I tell everyone else not to do... a dirty flash over Dan's 4.4.2 Google Edition ROM. (Got too excited!) :ahhhhh:

As Hawker states, you will need to set a static Wi-Fi address for the Wi-Fi to work, (my thanks to the Welsh Wizard for that), although I feel sure that Dan will fix that in the next release.

I haven't come across the UI problem that Hawker reports in the alarm, repeat, setting having tried it 5 times.

The same goes for my custom ringtone, Wallander, the 2nd stock ringtone is showing as, "airbutton_open", when I use Dialler > Settings > Call Settings > Phone ringtone > Media storage. Like the new, blue, dial pad though. See screenie below.

Can't comment on the SMS app as I'm on Handcent.

Xposed and GravityBox are, as far as I can tell, spot on.

The latest KT, GE, kernel, (05.28.2014), and KTweaker are behaving themselves with my 4.4.2 profiles. This kernel needs to be flashed over the stock one that comes with the ROM, (as his lordship reminded me).

All-in-all, a very good first release from Danvdh of Android 4.4.3, IMHO.

4.4.3 About phone

4.4.3 Dial pad

4.4.3 Contacts

I'm currently dowloading a new build (Danvdh-GE-4.4.3-06042014b.zip) which fixes DHCP, and tied some other minor "behind the scenes" ROM stuff up.

Hehe, I'm kinda glad I set this to download whilst I went out swimming with the boy, think I'll maybe give it a miss until better reports :-P

I downloaded Danvdh-GE-4.4.3-06042014.zip (that's without the 'b') and am about to flash it. Should I? Or better wait for better news?

The one with out the b is the first one which appears to be fine except the errors reported above by the Welshman :-)

Ah, that's with the static iP adress to get the WiFi going et all... I'll pass then. Mr vdh will probably have fixed that when I wake up tomorrow ;)

Re-arrange the words, "git", and, "smug". :D

Go for it Marc1969... it'll be good practice for you. ;)

Isn't this fun, now everything can be blamed on Hawker.....

... said Syd, the K.O.D. (Kiss Of Death) :vamp:

None of you appreciate the blood, sweat and tears, (not to mention the emotional and physical strain), that testing and speed flashing these cutting edge ROMs can put on you. Why, only today, Hawker PM'd me with a reply to one of my many questions and in his haste he put, "Hello Moron", instead of, "Hello Mate"!

I think you'll find that was deliberate, Mr Ass

Yeah, right!

For those of you that don't know, Syd went through a prolonged stage where every ROM or mod that worked for everyone else on the planet, would not work for him. In the end one well known developer, Gokhanmoral, took pity on Syd and named and released a special edition, just for him. Hence the K.O.D. title. Thankfully it now seems to have passed. Shame really... we'd all let Syd flash something first. If it worked for him... we didn't touch it, and vica versa.

Happy days indeed, unless you happened to be a sloth.

Syd do you still have your "temperamental" SGSII?

Oh yes, it's currently got neat rom cm kit Kat on it. Still behaving a little oddly! At the moment the entire screen has shrunk!! Still have the special edition gok kernel in the archives too!

At least my s4 behaves like everyone else's!

Famous last words?????

im actually just about to flash the stock version of neat onto my s2 for my father in law, i finally had a play about with the slimkat version and i really liked it :) but im not sure it'd suit him!

Smugness is suiting me right now, being back on my backup of cm dan ;)

"-WiFi DHCP fixed
-Teleservice unlocked (We can now change to all available network modes)
-Added CM filemanager by ktoonsez request for quick phone setup

Added a native reboot menu for easy access to recovery
Fixed mediaprovider so gallery can delete from EXT storage
Fixed platform permissions so apps have full EXT storage access

Lowered the minimum brightness via the slider to 10, down from 40
MMS with quick reply, themed by myself and Kryten
Email app got a makeover
Unlocked teleservice and made this a world phone
Disabled the wake up when pressing menu or back while locking the phone
added Superuser setting to Settings for convenience
debloated everything that you can get from the market
enabled all rotations
disabled the screen waking up when you unplug/plug in
removed debug out of the framework that slows the system
Updated KT kernel, Nothing much here, just 4.4.3 ramdisk stuff

Just in case you don't realise, that is the thread for the non-INTL version of the ROM.
Now don't panic, its identical to the INTL version (GT-i9505) except that it comes with the stock kernel, which causes random reboots on INTL devices.

Dan has a separate thread for the INTL version of the ROM.
This comes bundled with KT Kernel which works perfectly.
Currently the fixed version for INTL is being uploaded.

I've downloaded the non INTL version, and flashed faux immediately over it.

Mea culpa!

My only excuse is that I was tired and emotional by that time. I flashed it and the KT kernel in one go. Very good overnight, what there was of it, on this release. Everything seems tickety boo on Wi-Fi now.

Have amended the download link in my previous post as well as the kernel details.

Need more coffee!

GOOGLE EDITION 4.4.3 by Danvdh 06/06/2014 is up! :)

"06/06/2014
-"Carrier Settings" in settings removed, this appeared when I world unlocked the dialer for you folks, it's gone now because it FC'd and we are not suppose to have it
-Samsung missed a string in the ringtone/notification selection array, Default Ringtone %1 should be "None", this is now fixed

Note: Samsung watchON and other IR apps are not working in 4.4.3, however the IR functions fine with smart IR remote for me so the IR is not actually broken, you just need updated apps

Dirty flash is acceptable, small update
