Root [International] Flashing Roms

I just downloaded Siyah and flashed it. The most imporant thing for me is standyby time. I dont use my phone often during school days. But it drains to 60 percent by the end of school. I will see what the battery drain is on siyah. Then i will try Yank. :D Thank you guys so much for all the help.

No problem :D

siyah is clockable so you could set the CPU to run very slowly while youre at school to save battery then really speed it up later for better performance

The reason i wanted francos was because apprently when it was locked it went down to 2 cores. And when you unlock it it went to 4. Can i set that on siyas?

That sounds cool. Umm i dont know tbh. You can make it run on 2cores but i dont know how to make it work automaticly

There should be a setting somewhere that allows this. You can also try to underclock the device in order to save battery.

Thanks mate. i really should wean myself away from siyah. Is it overclockable?
Im jobless justnow so performance beats battery life for me :)

Not on the fly, when you flash it it takes you to an Aroma installer were you get to choose your options. Only OCable to 1.6 but after using it at 1.4 with Lulz gov its super smooth, on mine anyway

Thanks mate. Il maybe giv it a try. Im just in the habit of changing clock speeds on the fly (i have No Frills CPU Control set as a shortcut when i tap the phone widget lol) :)
is there a "touch boost" option for it btw? (Speed the CPU will jump to as soon as you touch the screen)
setting it from default (800Mhz) to 1200Mhz is really nice on siyah

Cool thanks again mate. Youve been such a good source of knowledge for me tonight. Owe u one

When i turn my Vol rocker right down, it vibrates and goes into vibrate mode, then when i tap down one more time it goes to silent. Does yours not do that mate?

I'm trying to install Sentinel ROM but
1. Android file transfer is saying can not copy file

2. When I factory reset in cwm will it delete my CPU settings?

Thanks

Where are you trying to copy it from and to where?
If the app you use to control the CPU is backed up with titanium the settings will be restored as long as you use a compatible kernel

Im copying from my desktop the Sentinel Rom i9300 to my phone sdcard with android file transfer. Also, i dont want the cpu to stay the same because apparently Sentinel has very good battery by it self. But anyways, do you know why i cant copy?

I dont know mate. Im a bad person to ask because i hate desktop computers lol. Id just use the phone's browser to download the rom

If you love cm10.1 normal. Then you will love Sentinel Rom. So far good battery. ( I will tell more about battery later) and also good performance. :D

Sigh.. I guess I got lucky for a while. I've lost 25 percent in 3 1/2 hours how great... No other app is using up battery. And screen time is only 45 min. How is 1 percent battery drain an hour possible on iPhone but not on galaxy. Screen is bigger on galaxy but the screen is off anyways. I'm on sentinel ROM.

I don't think you'll ever get as good battery on a cm based ROM as you will on a Samsung based ROM. 1% an hour battery drain is definitely possible with the s3. I'm on NeatROM and Perseus kernel and my phone usually comes off charge at about 10pm and it'll have 97-98% left at 6am. I suppose I don't have loads of things auto syncing frequently though.

True. Im a really heavy user and usualy run at 1.7GHz max so my average battery life according to Gsam was 8.5 hours on Neat Rom Lite, now after a couple of weeks on AOKP its dropped to 7.5.
Not a problem to me tbh. im an out of work bum and i love the performance lol.
Im wondering though.. id always thought it was the kernel that would affect battery life the most so what is it about touchwiz roms that make the battery better?

See, i would get worse battery life with stock. Cm10.1 is actually better. D: Do you have wifi on, mobile data on, no location services, no sync?
