I have though long and hard about rooting Nexus, BUT:

The phone is brand new and basically unproven. That warranty sure is attractive to me... and unless there is a real easy way developed to flash the stock ROM and bring it back to the store in pristine retail condition, I think I'll NOT be rooting it.

Rooting gave me great power over my Beloved OG Droid, but considering that I likely won't be holding onto the Nexus for 2 years, maybe it would be better if I take a pass on rooting this one :)

You guys have fun and who knows? I may change my mind...

This is exactly what you did with the A855, remember?

As for me, it will be rooted right away, since as others posted, it will wipe the whole device. And by then, I'm sure CM9 will be just about ready. . . . Oh, but I think the first choice is a bit out of order. The rooting instructions say you have to start with the power off. . . . hehe

There's a stock image available for the GSM edition and I'm sure we'll have a stock VZW image soon (if its not out there already).

Supposedly, P3 has said that he already has an LTE image waiting to be released

AFA rooting, as others have said, I will be doing it as qucikly as I possibly can so that I don't have to start fresh twice. I probably won't even sign into Google when I first get it. Straight to the charger it'll go, while I stare at it and jedi mind trick more juice into the battery :p
