Root is anyone trying a work around for the bootloader

Yeah... I know what's in there... I uploaded it.
Thing is, there is no .zip file in that folder and that is where the update downloads. The update file is named "dlpkgfile" without an extension. Ive tried attaching .zip to the end (also .rar, .tar, .jar, .7z, etc, I've tried different archive/compression methods), but that does nothing. It seems to be an archive, but I can't tell what kind. Maybe it doesn't turn into a zip until its just about to install.. idk. I'll look into it more tomorrow.

it do download as a dot zip this is not my file but this is the zip files and have some the same files as a custom rom just one file that do all the work i

there's a serial number in there btw....
In this file: omadmclient_v12.xml
take down the link, remove your serial from that file, reupload.

The file in question iz an application octet stream, maybe an exe. It doesn't have an elf header so it's not a Linux application. Could be a proprietary LG app. Looking for sign of a key here, there must be some kind of key or cert you would think.

I'm guessing serial number. and theres a ton of random numbers and letters in the same file I already mentioned had the serial number...

Thanks for pointing that out.
Hey, keep the folders and such, I trust you guys. ...I'll take it down now, but won't be able to reupload till later.

Well from looking through the dlpkg file it looks like it writes top system folders and such. It doesn't touch boot or recovery partitions do more than likely there's nothing of use here. When I get back online, next week hopefully, I want to look into the entire version d file. Particularly see if something can be gleaned from the boot or aboot part.

I think it just has a radio update of some kind and some new apps. Nothing that would help with bootloader :(

I did find a zip named "otacerts.zip". Its like 1kb though and contains a file named "testkey.x509.pem". It opens in text viewer and contains a bunch of regular letters. Not sure what it is, but its the closest thing to a fota zip I've found.

It's a generic key used to sign packages with. It certainly couldn't be that easy. That would be wreckless of LG to sign update with a test key. But you never know LOL.

yeah post it who knows we could have found out how to do it then we could say have one video tutorial on how to root strap or unlock the bootloader then installing google now or jellybean ROMS.

it do touch the recovery now when you got to recovery power and volume down(you might have to tap home and back repeatedly)it dont just wipe it a menu pop up

Before the update if you booted to stock recovery it would factory reset unconditionally. Now it gives option to hit power button to wipe or any key to reboot without wiping.

Wow. That's cool. Thought he meant menu... like cwm menu Lol. ...but this means the update contains a new recovery? Any way to use that to install the custom recovery from the other thread?

It only gives you the option to wipe or not. Nothing special here.
