My VZW store is a pretty big store with tablets, every phone on display with multiples of some, FiOS representative, technicians, and of course sales. They have 1 (read 1) Galaxy Nexus on display while they have 3 Razrs AND a white Razr. The only other 4G phone they have only 1 of is the Rezound, but even that phone has the Beats earbuds AND Beats over the ears headphones and huge signs pointing to the phone that is up on a pedestal. They had quite a few pissed off people on launch day and launch weekend for the Nexus because there were so many people waiting to play with the phone.
It's very hard not to say anything when the reps are talking to people. I've been in my store 3 times just since the Nexus was released and 3 times prior when I was playing with and eventually buying the Rezound, plus a smaller store in a neighboring city, and they all take people to the Razr first. I couldn't take it in when I was in the neighboring store and a rep kept pushing this lady to the Razr, which I have no problem with, except he was giving her false information, telling her that it would get Ice Cream Sandwhich in January (has there been an update date that I missed??), that she could get an extended battery (what what??), and that it had an HD screen (hey buddy, qHD is NOT HD). I finally had to tell the lady that the Razr is a nice phone but it does NOT have a removable battery, the update date has not been disclosed by motorola yet, and the screen is NOT hd and the only phones that are HD are the Rezound and the Galaxy Nexus.
Needless to say, that rep didn't talk to me the rest of my stay in that store, which was just fine with me.
One representative told a lady looking at the 7" Xyboard and the Samsung Galaxy Tab (not 10.1) that the only difference between the two was that the Samsung was older and Motorola one was newer and had some faster hardware and that's why it cost more. Not incorrect, but certainly incomplete. I really felt compelled to tell the lady after the rep left that what also differentiated the two beyond hardware was the difference in the OS, and that they Galaxy Tab did not run a tablet OS and would never be updated to run one, while the Xyboard runs a tablet OS and will be updated the run the newest one once released by VZW and Motorola.
Ah but I digress.
I think they ARE pushing the Razr and Rezound in that order. My store does have cases, batteries, screen protectors, and docks for the Nexus though.
I have seen Galaxy Nexus (by Samsung) commercials, Beats commercials, and Razr commercials in my area.
