Is Jelly Bean still on schedule?

Exactly! That's one thing Apple customers will always enjoy with their iToyes more than anyone else as Apple releases the updates globally and doesn't leave the customers at the carriers' mercy

Why is this? Why do carriers modify Android updates but not iPhone? Is it simple just because they can with Android but cannot with iPhone?

They don't modify anything, all they do is they test it, take their own sweet time in doing that, to ensure that the radio file (what is responsible for your phone's reception signal) is compatible with their network and the the OS is stable enough. The problem is, the carriers take ages to do that, then they push the update on the serves :( Same thing with BlackBerry phones. Apple pushes the updates directly without the consent of the carriers :)

IT won't release until early next year I think. Samsung is crap when it comes to release dates of anything

I'll have to disagree with that. The gs2 was one of the first phones to get ics. I'd say if anything they released that too early. The first few builds were full of bugs and if anything a step back from gingerbread so I got the impression they rushed the release to meet the date they had promised. Here's hoping they take their time with jellybean and get it right first time.

Please stop making things up you didn't see or read. This article says ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about when you will be getting Jelly Bean. Until your carrier says when they are rolling it out to their customers, you know nothing. There is no schedule. There is no date. There is no nothing. Anyone who tells you otherwise is full of crap.

If Krunk83 has an unbranded handset they won't have to wait for carriers to release it. It will be released to unbranded handsets as soon as Samsung say so which could be October.

I've merged this thread with the other jellybean discussion thread:)

Ah I see. Why don't Samsung just push it straight through. The carriers always add unnecessary crap to it.

I am running the last leaked beta - and I've had no issues at all. Looks as if it will be AOK when released next month.

That's not true. The software has to be modified to work with the phone's hardware. If it were as simple as grabbing the source and dropping it into the phone, there'd be ROMs galore the day after AOSP drops.

In many cases the carriers have their own proprietary apps and tools loaded onto the phone and they probably test those as well. Thankfully, with the GS3 that seems to be pretty minimal and I'm speaking as a Verizon customer (NO I do not want to use VZNavigator, Verizon!).

I agree here. My GS3 has a lot less bloatware and what came with my Incredible 2.

As far as who loads this bloatware, Verizon does not load it. Verizon works with the Manufacturer and the bloatware is loaded into the phone along with all the other software.

I bought my Galaxy Note from O2 but it doesn't say anything about O2 on boot-up. Is this unbranded? And does anyone know if Jelly Bean is scheduled to come to the Note?

I'm in south florida and i just recently had to call Tmobile about some billing info. anyways long story short, i asked him when should we expect android 4.1 jellybean for the GS3? he told me from what he heard around October time. never gave a specific date but he did say october.

can i believe him?? yes and no.... sometimes these people don't know there ass from their elbows. i would like to think this guy knew somewhat about what he was talking about. so lets all hope its soon. :D

I think Samsung burst the excitement bubble by dragging the JB release so long. I am no longer anxious or excited about it as I was before
