Is Jelly Bean still on schedule?

Why would you think this phone wouldn't get JB? There was never a rumor that would indicate this phone would not get the update.

You're swaying away from what I'm saying. I never said I thought it wouldn't get JB. What I meant was if you buy a top of the range phone, you expect to eventually get the latest release, I never said I thought it wouldn't get JB.

I never said straight away, I meant eventually.

If I purchased the S3 I expect to eventually get JB, and maybe KLP too later.

Based on what? Did Samsung launch the phone by announcing it would receive two OS updates? Were you promised a certain number of OS updates? What were the realistic expectations set forth by Samsung, Google, and your carrier regarding updates on this phone?

Why do you expect it?

I expect a device to perform exactly as advertised, which this phone has, thus far, done.

I have to say, your attitude towards all of this makes a high-performing, stable, feature packed phone like the S3 seem like a bad thing, just because you feel entitled to something that was never promised to you in the first place.

The title of this thread is wrong from the get go. What schedule? The schedule people made up in their minds based on hopes and rumors? You'll get it when they're done creating and tweaking it. Until your carrier says "It will be available on ______ date", nothing in this 6 page thread as a shed of useful value.

It looks like yous are twisting what I am saying. Nobody ever tells you if or how many updates you will get, but if you buy a top notch phone like the S3 you assume you're going to get at least 2 Android updates. I didn't say we SHOULD or that it's a bad thing if we don't, I'm just saying it's what some people expect. If Samsung were to announce that we would not get any further Android versions, I would be very surprised as I know that the S3 can easily run JB.

People seem to misinterpret things that are said alot on XDA, that's how alot of arguments are started

JB will be available when it's available, I don't care when that is as I don't mind waiting, but that doesn't mean I don't want it, and when I purchased the S3 I assumed it would get JB, and looks like I was correct :)

I figured when you said, "I expect to eventually get JB" that you meant that you expect to eventually get JB. I can see how I misinterpreted that, though

No, you said that you "expect" it. Of course, I may just be twisting your words.

Assumed or expected?

Assumed or expected?

Both. Stop trying to argue with me over something so pathetic. I EXPECT to get JB, when I bought it I assumes I would get it. At the end of the day I was right :D

Not arguing. That would imply you had a counter-point. Just pointing out the fallacy in saying that I "twisted" your words, when I quoted them exactly. It is okay to say that you misspoke.

Well done. Really went out on a limb for that one.

Grow up.

Edit: I never knew there was an ignore list, comes in use :)

Another useless and meaningless article that everyone one here will misinterpret and attempt to hold someone too.

There is no date listed at all. It doesn't say you will get it in October. It says you might get it as soon as October. And it says that it is up to each carrier to do it.

So until your carrier announces when it will be available for you, once again, this thread is a pointless waste of bullshit.

And, this came from a UK website. So, even IF it did get released in October it might be for the UK and not the US carriers.

#1)The OP made no mention of the USA in his post.I'm in the UK and have bought my phone so if JB is available to the UK I will get it.

#2) The article does not say this release will be specific to UK owners.

#3) The article does say that Samsung simply say "October" with no indication when in October the release date might be.

Interesting. No bugs at all? How does it cope with flash?

No bugs. No idea how flash works. Adobe discontinued flash, but you can still get the APK.

How simple is simple? Could you recommend a decent guide as I might give this a whirl!

Ta

Download the OTA, put on SD. Power off. Hold Home+Vol down+Power and it will boot into recovery. When there choose install update from SD card. Choose the file.
