Is Jelly Bean still on schedule?

Forgive my ignorance but I thought updates got pushed whether it was OTA or via Kies, or does checking through Kies give a significant advantage?

No advantage - its just that I prefer to do a download and install via Kies rather than OTA. Just me but I feel safer that way!

Well I am sure once they release the 4G version then someone will extract the firmware, I will just flash that until it reaches our phones.

October...great. Key Lime Pie should be released soon after and we'll have a whole new operating system to complain about not having.

When you purchase a top of the range phone that hasn't been out too long, you expect to get the latest updates.

If this is your thinking you will be disappointed no matter which phone you get. Only the Nexus phones get fast updates. Have followed HTC and now Samsung phones, the Manufactures do not have the same opinion you do about updates.

October?!!

Who was the person that started Aug 29 rumors. I want his head on the chopping block NOW.

This is why you shouldn't believe internet rumors are gospel and should take them with a grain of salt.

I'd bet that that Samsung had no intention of even mentioning the GS3's Jelly Bean update on the August 31st event until the internet rumor started cycling about it. It was clearly their event for the Galaxy Note 2.

Even an October release would be well ahead of most devices to get JB. I'm happy with that.

Cnet posted today less than an hour ago, that samsung will be rolling out 4.1.1 in October 2012. I am as I'm sure many droid users are, VERY pleased to hear this news!

"Very soon" is a term to take with a pinch of salt. Said this previously.

I say it when I'm being pestered to do something :D

I can wait, not like the phone isn't awesome in the meantime, alternatively install one of the many leaks if it's an issue.

I never said straight away, I meant eventually.

If I purchased the S3 I expect to eventually get JB, and maybe KLP too later.
